Sales and Marketing: Foundation/Community Relations
Executive Director, Houston Texans Charities
Department: Communications
Reports to: Vice President, Communications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required; three-five years non-profit business experience preferred
Skills Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office software; strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; high-level of knowledge with regard to fundraising for non-profit purposes and of non-profit organizational legal and tax requirements
Basic Function: Responsible for all aspects of the charitable giving programs of Houston Texans Charities and for all Community Relations activities of the Houston Texans
Job Function (duties and responsibilities):
Oversee day-to-day activities of Texans Charities and the Community Relations departments
Ensure tight coordination of efforts between Texans Charities, Community Relations, Marketing and Corporate Development to ensure delivery of maximum community impact
Manage the implementation of all Texans Charities fundraising events, including the golf tournament, welcome home luncheon and other events
Oversee the implementation of all community relations initiatives (League, Team, other) to delivery community I.M.P.A.C.T. and to Create Raving Fans of our franchise
Represent the organization within the community as the senior community outreach executive
Maintain a robust speaker’s bureau for the Team, in order to deepen our connection with key community groups
Strategically manage our player and coach appearances to maximize the business building objectives of the Team (apply business objectives to prioritization of appearances)
Ensure consistently high-quality player and coach appearances that delight our customers and fans
Manage the overall creation and implementation of the Team’s community impact and Champions for Youth plans
Create Raving Fans among Team sponsors, donors and other key constituencies
Service our key constituents in a manner that maintains a 95% renewal rate for sponsorships, table sales and donations
Maintain excellent working relationships across the organization, especially with Footall Operations, Corporate Development and Marketing
Oversee our charity auction business and realize our financial objectives for this area of Texans Charities
Manage our relationships with strategic Team partners and sponsors who are the focus of our Champions for Youth funding/support
Serve as a key member of Texans Business Operations Leadership Team (BOLT)
Assist players in understanding their community involvement options and facilitate their pursuit of programs that match their passions and the Team’s needs
Formulate annual business plan for the Texans Charities and Community Relations departments that moves Team closer toward our mission to become the most respected and most valuable professional sports franchise in the world
Develop measurements to be applied as indicators of determining level of community impact achieved by fundraisers, community relations initiatives, player appearances, etc.
Oversee and ensure achievement of the Texans Charities net revenue objectives
Formulate annual departmental budgets for Texans Charities and Community Relations and ensure compliance in all respects throughout fiscal year
Coordinate and manage the Team’s annual United Way campaign
