Director of Strategic Marketing - Cleveland Cavaliers (Cleveland, OH)


The Director of Strategic Marketing oversees Cavaliers strategic marketing efforts, prioritizing research, corporate brand integration, technology marketing, and the teams’ long-term marketing objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties for this position include, but are not limited to A) Develop, manage and implement team research initiatives focused on building strategy that directly impacts sales. Efforts include the management and implementation of all research initiatives across the company. It prioritizes the development of a proactive and strategic communications program that is focused on providing ideas and solutions for sales opportunities; B) Work in partnership with the Ticket Sales Team to maximize revenue generating opportunities that supports renewals, new sales and retention programs; C) Work in partnership with the Corporate Sales Team to maximize revenue generating opportunities that support renewals and activation programs. Includes the development of strategies and ideas geared toward supporting team marketing objectives through corporate activations; D) Partner with internal and external teams in the strategy and development of the teams’ long-term initiatives geared toward developing a sustainable brand. Efforts will prioritize marketing strategies for the following initiatives: Regional, Grass Roots, Multicultural and Youth Marketing Programs; E) Develop and prioritize team technology marketing goals, including e-marketing initiatives in cooperation with the database marketing and web teams. Efforts include the prioritization of web-based marketing opportunities, focus toward impacting the core audiences, as well as the conceptual development of web-based brand extension programs to impact our corporate and ticket sales initiatives; F) Perform additional duties as assigned by the Sr. Vice President of Marketing.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: Bachelor's degree required. Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar field, including significant experience in developing and executing comprehensive marketing plans (both short-term and long-term) to support ticket sales, corporate partnership initiatives and revenue objectives, through technology, and research-based operations. Previous management experience is necessary. The selected candidate will have proactive planning abilities, sense of urgency and creativity, style and attention to detail. He/she will also possess the ability to communicate effectively, proven experience in juggling a number of work-intensive projects simultaneously and the ability to meet and perform under tight deadlines and to think clearly under pressure. The ability to work well with people in a team environment is important for success in this position. Strong, hands-on computer knowledge is a must.
