Wordpress or Blogspot?

Which one is better? I've noticed blogspot added a lot of new widgets. I'm trying to figure which one to go with.

Wordpress has more options and you customize it more to make it look really professional with that said I use blogspot mainly cause it is quicker and easier, I could make 5 blogs real quick in the time it takes to do one in wordpress.

In blogger to have a unique look you have to use hacks ( I use a lot wordpress converted to blogger hacks on one of my blogs ) other wise your blog has that generic blogger look you see all of the time.

Anyone turnig a profit from their blog? Even a small one. I was hoping to start one and maybe make enough to cover my mortagage each month.

I haven't been trying to make money off my blog, just been trying to get my name out there as a freelance writer.

WordPress is the most popular blog software...tons of themes and plugins to give it the look and functionality you want...

that's whats up. Good Luck with that.I wish the net was popping like this when I use to write back in the early 90's. Now through blogs and social networks you can make money writing without having to get put on by a big publication

ya'll need to get with joomla.
wordpress is hot though, just find the right template for it and you're good. wordpress is a no-brainer for someone who has never blogged before it spells it all out for you.

joomla is more robust, you might have to get in there and do some work to tweak it to perfection. not really the best for someone who knows nothing about tweaking code. but joomla is powerful

Wordpress.org maybe good but Wordpress.com doesn't allow Google adsense. I learned that the hard way.

ahh they're both one in the same, its just that on Wordpress' site, you can either have them host your site for you or which I commonly do is run it on my own web host for full control.

to the OP, it depends on what you want the site to do. If you want to make loot off the site then you have to run it on your own and get the appropriate plug ins to put SEO and Google Adsense or banners for offers there...

Yeah man. That is the best thing about this web 2.0. I remember when you had to set all this stuff up in code line by line. There are so many resources available, that all you have to do is just grind out heavy.

I even thought about starting my own Wordpress based group.

There are many, MANY mainstream websites that use wordpress, you'd really be surprised.

Check one of ya fav websites, and in the address bar, add /wp-admin to the end, see what pops up.

Down here in Atlanta, Praise 107.5 uses Wordpress. I used to use Joomla, but I can't deploy sites as fast with it, plus it's a beast to customize. I can register a domain, upload wordpress and have a complte site ready in 4 hours now.

Also, I woud recommend getting some templates to jazz up your site. Do a search on the web for some free ones, or you could join a club such as Woo Themes, Rocket Theme, Press75, Studio Themes or Yoo Theme. Rocket Theme is almost not recommended by me anymore cause it's too much to customize (at least for me). Woo is by far the best to me for Wordpress.

Also, 1&1 is having a sale on domain names now, $6.99 for the first year.

Anyone have some WP themes Templates geared towards urban or music.
