The company filed for its second bankruptcy. And I've been with the company going on 5yrs. So far the talk is up in the air as to what they want to do and the story goes. Us union workers gave up a lot of money to get us out of bankruptcy the first time with a contract saying by 2014 we will get our money back. So far they've frozen the pension and filed there 2nd bankruptcy. Basically I'm not gonna get my money back and there threatening the workers by saying if we don't agree to there new terms of contract by June they are going to liquidate. I need to hear something solid. So far everything but the bankruptcy is up in the air. Very concerned.

You'd be surprised at how many unions are locking down their workers pensions.

Shit Comes as a shock.

You be so proud of your shit accumulating....you be like:

"Yeah I ain't touching my shit...that's my rainyday stash."

Then they tell you you can only get your shit through hardship.

They give it to you if you're being evicted not to prevent the
situation....or for a funeral or school.

union met up and the vote is unanimous, STRIKE!really dont want to, really cant afford to but the new contract they're offering is ridiculous. 3 things that stand out. 1. pay cut.....again!<that was us falling for there bluff the 1st time> 2. Job title basically is a demotion 3. the biggest one NO PENSION:angry::smh:
who ever said they are blaming the union is 100% right, how can you blame the ones that got you out of bankruptcy in the first place:smh:I DONT WANT TO STRIKE honestly but theres no choice and the thing is its not just a regional strike its nation wide and local 550, and depending on how our union brothers really care they too would strike with us or at least send a statement of support.Sure they might be our competitors like stroehman, peppridge, arnold and what not but once their owners see how a company can save millions even billions on not paying a pension guess what.:itsawrap: wonder bread/hostess. AMERICAS #1 brand name in bread and snacks for 90 yrs ran into the ground by mismanagement, bad marketing and your typical corporate greed:angry: thanks for the support guys:rolleyes:

Maaan bro... That's something, the Senior Mgmt that got you into the first Bankruptcy did it again?!?! I wonder if the money has been itemized after the last settlement. It doesn't look like there is a future with that company. Are there competitors? Do you have a skill that will transfer (maybe with a little certificate or training) into another industry (food service or manufacturing?)...

But seeing your pension go down the drain is a hard pill to swallow! Damn! That's probably what kept people with the company!

I bet you they saw this day coming for years... They were just feeding the union bullshit to get as much as they could to this point...

Good luck bro!!!

Thanks. But yeah of course we as ibc have competitors but us being that American brand name and for 90yrs I see it hard or at least hope it won't go down like that. I'm 30 yrs old so I'm still kind of young with options on my plate I just hate to see a great job get fucked by bad corporate mismanagement. Now that my eyes are wide opened I'm definetly activating plan b & c. I got a house a wife and 2 kids and 2 dogs lol that I don't wanna see suffer cuz daddy got no job. But once again thanks for the support we still making money for now.

CEO Brian Driscoll said the Hostess is working to reach a consensual agreement with its unions to modify its collective bargaining agreements. Hostess also hopes to modernize its systems, fleets and plants to keep pace with customer needs.

OP, I'm sorry to hear that man. Truly am. On another note, how is it that mgt all over the USA gets to fuck up like this and then turn around and blame the workers, union, etc... They make it seem like there hasn't been a building trend over the past few years, that has allowed for the competition to move in and take more and more of their customers. The nerve of them to say that they now want to "keep pace with customer needs", what were they paying attention to a year ago, or two years ago, or when the new mgt. took over!?

Go figure. Management I guess got greedy. This is the 1 company I can honesty say doesn't need management. Truly get paid to do absolutly nothing. I heard 1 manager complain about the things that were taken away from them and I had to laugh. Emerging out of the first bankruptcy "we" the field workers the ones that make the company the big bucks took a pay cut. $140 a week! Then on top union dues increased! Management got there 401k matching taken away, and paid gas an tolls. That's it!oh and brand new laptops and new blackberry phones every other month not to mention and unlimited sick days(exaggerating) but it looks like it.

March 9th Brian Driscoll stepped down. Let's see what happens now. Guy wanted a 1.5 million quarterly bonus. The fuck?!?
