It's official: The mutants are taking over Hollywood. And we're not talking about the freaks running the studios.

Following the monster weekend for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and a day after announcing that a Hugh Jackman-powered sequel is in the works, 20th Century Fox has confirmed to E! News that Jackman's costar Ryan Reynolds will be given his own spinoff and potential franchise-launcher as the Marvel Comics antihero Deadpool.

The 32-year-old Canadian actor, otherwise known as Mr. Scarlett Johansson, will again star as Wade Wilson, a wisecracking, cancer-stricken mercenary who's cured of the disease after undergoing the same Weapon X genetic alteration as Wolverine.

But along with superhuman powers, enhanced strength and self-regenerating healing powers, the slightly unhinged Deadpool can absorb the abilities of dead and captured mutants.

Aside from Deadpool and the Wolverine sequel, Fox is also working on an X-Men spinoff focusing on Ian McKellen's villainous Magneto and another dubbed X-Men: First Class, which is being written by The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz.

The beginning had me amped, and then they fucked it up by limiting Deadpool's role and fucking the character up completely in the end. So, I'm not to excited about a Deadpool movie.

so all of this will be before the xmen existed....i mean everybody who saw the flick knows how dude ended up

Like Magneto said " Are you sure you saw what you think you saw"

I think the entire world knows that Deadpool is not dead. The movie had another scene after the credits. I did not even see the movie and I heard that.

As long as all of these Marvel movies are pg or pg13 i have no interest in watching them. They have messed up EVERY X-men movie and X-Wolverine was no exceptiin.

Peace.

Yea. These movies are not for those of us who watched the cartoons or followed the comics as kids and are now adults. Its for a new audience of younger people who enjoy CGI and the idea of comic characters coming to life on the big screen yet have no clue or expectations when walking into that theater. I realized after they butchered the casting (and then script) of the original that these execs didnt give a fuck about staying true to the actual story or characters.

:smh::smh::smh::smh::smh:

I'm still in awe how bad Wolverine was...

can't believe they are making a DeadPool Spinoff....:smh:

I've read interviews Reynolds has done about a possible movie.

The guy actually read comics, and understands deadpool's character, he seemed pretty adamant about if they indeed do a movie, that they get the the character right.

Ever since I saw him in Blade 3 I always thought he would be able to nail deadpool, too bad he didn't get much shine in Origins.

you heard wrong. the scene after the credits just shows wolverine sitting in a bar in an asian country, just drinking and talking a few lines to the bartender.

(SPOILER ALERT!!!!)

and for that dude to not be iced, they'd need some creative writing. wolverine tore dude's head off his body and it feel into a nuclear reactor

Theres "supposedly" another ending where they show him alive via his regenerative weapons X powers.
Either way what difference does it make. Its not like they need a credible or realistic explanation to bring him back alive. Have you seen some of the shit they try to pass off on the viewers during the previous installments?

No. There are multiple scenes.

Post credits scenes

The film has several additional scenes during and after the credits.[5] The first of these scenes plays a few seconds into the credits, and depicts William Stryker walking down a road. The toes of his shoes are torn and bloody from walking for so long, having been commanded by Silverfox to walk indefinitely. A military vehicle drives up behind him and he is apprehended by military police for questioning about the death of a general that he murdered earlier in the film in order to protect his personal vendetta against mutants.

Depending on which theater the movie was shown in, one of two possible endings then appear following the credits. The first depicts Deadpool's (Weapon XI's) hand reaching out from the rubble of the nuclear complex to touch his severed head. Deadpool's eyes open and his mouth, no longer sewn shut, whispers "Shhh" to the audience, breaking the fourth wall like he commonly does in his comics. The second alternate scene shows Wolverine drinking at a bar in Japan. The female bartender asks if he is drinking to forget; Wolverine replies that he's drinking to remember

Why the fuck did Marvel sign off on letting Fox do a Deadpool movie?!

And since when did Deadpool ever have the ability to "absorb the powers of dead or captured mutants".

If it's before the movie then Deadpool won't have his healing factor. He actually got that from the Weapon X program giving him a derivative of Wolverine's healing factor to cure his cancer.

MOVIE FAIL!

CO SIGN FAM.

Ryan Reynolds has been working out and fighting and begging for YEARS to play Deadpool. You can tell in all his interviews how he says I'm playing Wdae Wilson and he gives a fuck you look so... we know where his heart is. So I'm assuming what we seen in Wolverine was sorta his... violent origins...

After the credits, Weapon X's arm moves over toward the head and that sent the crowd into a YEAH fest. It's about fucking time.

Fuck that shit but Ryan Reynolds was THE ONLY GOOD THING to come out of that movie. FUCK FOX. FOR REAL.

Oh yeah... and Gambit was good too.
