No matter how many times Hugh Jackman says he’s out, the character of Wolverine pulls him back in. Soon he’ll be pulled into the currently untitled Wolverine 3 with a movie to make fans salivate: It’s based on the Mark Millar storyline "Old Man Logan."

Best of all, it’s giving Wolverine the movie he deserves — with an R rating. Both stand-alone Wolverine movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine, were PG-13.

It’s not surprising 20th Century Fox wants to age up the content of its superhero films, after Deadpool stormed the box office ($748 million and counting). Deadpool was foul-mouthed, funny and rated R. The film’s success is a reminder that not all comic books are for children.

Considering just how tough, and at times violent, Wolverine is, it feels like he’s been muzzled in his previous films. After all, this is a guy who has no qualms about killing.

"Old Man Logan" is an eight-issue storyline from the Wolverine comic book by Mark Millar. Millar has had several of his comic books adapted for cinema, including Kick-Ass and Kingsman: Secret Service, plus the much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War.

Without giving too much away, it’s set in the future … and Marvel’s supervillains have taken over the world. All the heroes are dead, except for a few in hiding, as well as their descendants. Wolverine, who could not prevent the takeover, refuses to use his powers. He becomes embroiled in a plan to overthrow supervillainy.

Oh, yeah, and it’s dark as hell. Wolverine has earned every ounce of his PTSD.

According to Den of Geek, Sir Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Professor Charles Xavier. The movie will be helmed by James Mangold, who has directed Jackman in both Kate & Leopold and The Wolverine.

Gonna be hard to do with limited characters.
I'm thinking the same thing.
I guess that's why they said "loosely based" on Old Man Logan.
But they can still use Dr. Doom and Apocalypse, plus there are plenty of mutant characters to use as stand-ins for all the other Marvel people.

I wonder who they will use to replace Hulk. Basically gonna be another DOFP alternate timeline I'm guessing.

truth...it is SO Marvel Universe centered it is going to lose a MAJORITY of its punch.

I actually think its a bad idea if they can't access characters like the Hulk.

Cause I can't remember who Fox still has the rights too...

X-Men, Daredevil and who else?

Just mutants and Fantastic Four. Daredevil is gone since they didn't want to loan Silver Surfer/Galactus

Fox don't have Daredevil no more...it reverted back to Marvel a few years ago...It's the reason, why Marvel can put Daredevil in their universe

X-Men X-Force X-Factor Hellfire Club Bbotherhood of Mutants Genosha...everything????

Hmmm
Red Skull - maybe use Magneto or Mr. Sinister
Hawkeye - use a random X-Man
Hulk - I have no idea
Venom symbiote - probably will leave it out
Abomination - who knows
Black Bolt - I'm stuck
Mysterio - random X villain
Captain America/Iron Man references - Left out

I seriously doubt Fox would do it,even though it makes sense.Fox's ego wouldn't allow them to make some type of plans to put X-Men in the MCU.... :smh:

thing is NOTHING is forever and Disney can always play the long game because of its nearly limitless resources.

while the X-Men would be GREAT!!! I hate to say it but you could survive for a long time with just Avengers roster stuff...

people FORGET how deep the Marvel bench is.

((because back in the late 90s and 2000 they went X title CRAZY)

and DC stuff is REALLY tricky because they have a TON of litigation with many of their characters

the Charleston characters, the Finger thing was JUST settled, people forget how they did the Superman creators dirty for YEARS...

ONE good thing about the mouse is they pay the people and show a ton of respect.

and it seems like WB/DC TV does now too.

you do NOT want to piss fans off at this stage of the game.

Fox just needs to sit down and swallow they pride and don't let let this Deadpool WIN instead of bolstering the entire studio?

lead you to do some stupidness based of inflated self worth...

cause X-Men aint even come out yet and I got a twinge of disappointment feeling ...

Yep...everything "mutant".
Every mutant and their respective villains (usually) fall under the X-men license.
There are some exceptions, though.
Namor is a mutant, but the character was already licensed out separately when the X-men deal was made.

they NEED to get Namor back and give it to Cameron to direct

People seem to forget that Fox wants to do TV shows based off of X-Characters, but they can't unless Disney gives the OK... best believe you might be seeing Silver Surfer/Galactus in the Infinity War movies..

My question for this grand announcement is "Who is going to be the movie's big villain?"
For those who don't know; the big villain in "Old Man Logan" was The Hulk. (And his demented clan of cannibalistic, inbred children by his cousin The She-Hulk) :eek2:

So, who are they going to get to substitute for The Hulk in the movie version...?

bet you they substitute the Blob or if it comes to worst case they will have a space cloud come down and form around Mt. Rainier with the final battle be Hugh Jackman shadow boxing smoke and cosmic powered Blob

It's going to be shitty. Hugh Jackman's run as wolervine is over and the shitty movies they put him in wasn't really his fault.

Onslaught? Apocalypse? The Thing (Ben Grimm) could work. Fox needs to fold the Fantastic Four characters into the X-Men universe anyway

This movie will be shit. Bow they think that an R rating will make a movie good and hace da same success as Deadpool. They'll be sadly mistaken.

I think that's the reason, why Marvel canceled the Fantastic Four in the comics,so they can discourage Fox from making anymore movies.

Can you imagine the Fantastic Four in the MCU,plus the current titles they have now.

It's only a matter of time, when Marvel get all their characters back, especially,if Fox keeps fucking up the X-Men and Fantastic Four movies

Whenever, Marvel get the rights back for X-Men and Fantastic Four..
