1. 610 17 - isley4.mp3
This is my first choice, it has a nice grove, Sounds like something that could actually get airplay, it may be that the song has lyrics with it, but it had the sound of a complete song.

2. CHEW MY GRITS - ruff jussdiss.mp3
This group did the best job of changing the sound up, brought a lot of energy to the sample. - I like this song alot

3.Lebeef - new 292.mp3
Great beat with nice changes, more distinctive than most of the tracks, my son is 4 years old and recognizes this beat when I play it.

# 1. I just want to say again, there’s so much fucking talent ya’ll.
I’m a critical cat, that’s just me. I want ya’ll to know I gave everybody’s shit a couple of listens in the car last night coming back from Detroit from promoting a show, and in headphones when I got home.

mufasa672
Passin me by -
A complete production. I liked the emotional pull of using the Pharcyde passing me by accapella. I think the verses fitted, the chorus didn’t. The use of the sample was evident, and smooth.

Slim Cutty
Ok, so what’s ole girl look like that says your intro! LMBAO!!! Smooth. I loved the arrangement, I loved how it seemed you latched onto the baseline and worked off that, and the vocal sample really fit in real well.

JackNickelz
I didn’t like the kick that you used, and I felt your production didn’t catch until about 40 secs. In. Then you flipped it in the bridge, and chorus, and it was hot.

610 17
About 2:25 you put in what sounded like a bass synth or something, that was the only thing that sounded like your style. I think that was a good touch, but under used, would have liked to hear more of that.

Eemrsin
You just basically looped it? There was no song structure there. Have you thought of things maybe from not just your standpoint as a producer but as far as thinking, who could spit on the jam, or can someone sing over it. I’d love to hear more from you, and do you dogg, but that had no structure. I gotta tell you the truth.

Lebeef
I loved the high hat in the intro, shit was a strong intro. Then that high hat got old. Real quick, I think because there was no bassline. None at all. I like the shit, it just completely lacked BASS. The kick was cool, but there was no hum, no bass. You had a ninja with the first 8 secs. But then, NO BASS????

BobbyDrake
I think you over looped it. But thing was, there was a style to it, and there was a structure to it. So to me it was like you worked with what you had, and you put some BobbyDrake on it. Cool listen.

JRVA
WTF??? Dude the version you said you were NOT entering was the only one I even remotely heard the SAMPLE in???
Are you a drummer, or do you just understand drums well, because your off the chain with the fucking drums.
I completely loved the shit you did, but it just seemed like you didn’t get the sample in there.

Chew my Grits
You just come here to show out don’t you. Complete production from start to finish. I ain’t putting you in for the winner, but you came hard, and it was a fucking treat. Thanks. You picked a good song title, your shit is that.

ThaCEO
Over looped. Nothing that impressed, nothing that said it was you.

Winchesta Heat
Much respect. You know that shit was boring though. I did like the vocal sample, the girl’s, “ Aaaahhhhh “.

SkyMute
Shit was SLAMMIN!! Dude, I’m driving doing like 90, everybody in the car is half ass asleep, I’m on the verge, when your shit came on, the girls in the back started grooving., wiggling and dancing, It was fun!!
It has energy, a good build up with the intro, it brings out memories with the, ‘ Boogie wonderland ‘. Good use of the sample provided, and it can get the party started! AFTER the fucking party! Excellent job!! Bottomline you can’t beat reaction.

ManowarSSS
Now that’s a loop for your ass. I mean that shit is a head nodder , just makes you start freestylin!!! As much as I love it though, the use of the sample was so unrecognizable. Dude your on point, but I gotta say, other cats used the sample to a point you know it’s the sample that was given. But out of everyone’s, dude your shit is straight hip hop . . . .

What,
that’s a battle beat
that sweeps the streets
like a missile seeking heat
let only soldiers speak
when a cat puts it down, ill sound, .45 round, no clown
straight through your car door
oh, you got a star whore!
but what's in store, why do you ask for more
when it's that midwest Shane
Ill sex slang
Wet sheets bed fame
it ain't your fault
your girl's to blame
always spitten, drunk trippen, but never slippen
always crippen
wearin blue, Vodka sippen, my issues don't mention
catch me at the crib I'm in the kitchen
probably fixen
some potatoes and Jerk chicken
What!

I loved that shit, that shit was killin it, but I can’t make you clear winner because I can’t peep the sample.

Brabra
I’m sorry but dude, I tried to listen to that shit on my Mac, and two PC machines, I downloaded it, and it said it was a Wav. Reasons would not open that shit, it tried to play it on Zshare, and it sounded great, but it just will WOULD NOT work, it would NOT load. MP3 dude. I can’t say shit. It just wouldn’t work.

....sometime later...

Brabra
I finally got to hear your offering. I loved the Cello, or whatever, the classical aspect you put into the shit. Excellent use of the sample. You took something you didn't like, but still put down your best with it. Not the winner, but very on point production. IMO.

Overall, it’s hard with ya’ll cats because of the level of talent, but I gotta give it to skymute for the energy, the reaction, use of the sample, and just plain out slammin with it!

Peace to all.

JUDGE TEN:
TEN
SENSEI MOD ADMIN

610 17 -
Good intro using fatboys brrr stick em.
Plus a good use of the main sample in this stop n start monster.
Very funky and nicely musical. Although perhaps too
many stops n starts for me, which caused it to slightly
lose the groove it kept on hinting at. However it did
match the jerky rap vocals well, which obviously was
the whole point. A good track indeed and very professional.

BobbyDrake -
the sample is used as stabs in this quick jerky number by bobby drake.
not enough for me to get into though.

brabra -
some nice strings in this movie soundtrack type joint from brabra!
Alot of atmosphere and tension suggests to me brabra's talents
may very well lie in movie/film soundtrack work or something similar.
interesting.

CHEW MY GRITS -
Two time winner Grit's delivers perhaps his most accomplished entry
yet! A fully produced rap tour deforce with the illest kick and snare
this side of the hiphop universe. This is real underground hiphop.
Featuring UK Legendary rap group Ruff Jusdiss on vocals, this monster
is the first track so far that ive rewound. Boasting a funky fat bassline
and great use of the sample all held together by a tight beat and scratch
chorus. Lee Ritenour's sample truly suits the girls vocals and Grits proves
you can make a big monster out of a lil funky guitar sample. EXCELLENT.

eemrsin -
[Instrumental and airborn rangers vocal version]
Genius at work! thats all i can say about this.
Some wont understand, but trust me HipHop is reborn.
Wow!

JackNickelz -
Jack creates a beautiful peice of music, with excellent use
of the sample. He respectfully maintains Lee's original jazz flava
and takes it even higher with twists and turns that make you feel like
your on a journey. This ladies and gentlemen is true HipHop Jazz.
Jack truly understands musical movement and how to let a sample breathe.
Best use of the sample so far.

jrva -
when all human beings die out, and the jungle reclaims the earth
just before the sun explodes. This is what it will all sound like.
You gotta hear this Drum beast to believe it. wow!

Lebeef -
Didnt really go anywhere for me, yet simple is effective.

ManowarSSS -
Again didnt really go anywhere, but simple is effective, sometimes.
Nice snare on this though.

mufasa672 -
Two time winner mufasa bless'es this months battle with
the help of Legendary rap group The Pharcyde on vocals
[she keeps on passing me by] This is a huge monster of a
a track, really stretching out the sample and pushing Lee's
guitar to the for-front. Comes complete with big funky drums
enforcing parts of the rap, and hihats that weigh a ton. This
is a professional well produced joint by a great producer/musican.

skymute -
My ears get excited when my eyes see the name skymute,
and once again im definetly not disappointed!!
This production proves how a simple sample can be used
to create something totally unexpected. How you can take
some funky jazz and make a house music monster hit!!
Skymute is never and i mean NEVER afraid to explore and
really create, like a real producer should. He makes the sample
bounce 4 by 4 on this killer track, weaving it smoothly around
his beat like it was meant to be that way! With clever filtering
he makes the sample interfaze with itself. Add to that the Boogie
Wonderland stabs which cleverly give you something familiar to sing
and make you feel like you've always known this whole track.
This is what the fuck im talking about when i say be you, be creative.
I rewound many times.
WOW!

Slim Cutty -
New World Chaos Production's slim cutty, brings the funk to this months
battle. With a big beat beast of a track. Showing good use of the sample,
slim keeps the sample right up next to the beat, interchanging different
parts of the sample to create movement. This track sounds like its ready
for a rap artist to go do their thing. Nice snare / kick and crash cymbal.
All that and he didnt even like the damn sample! Great track, go sell it!

ThaC.E.O -
A huge beat brings in this heavy footer from tha c.e.o.
It sounds like marching lethargic robots, with its massive
kick drum slowing the whole thing down. Nice snare in this and
not bad use of the sample, although soundwise id say its mismatched.

Winchesta Heat -
Get ya money out!
Another genius at work, Two time winner Winchesta Heat
again show's us why he's the sample king. No one can
splice and dice a sample into a track like Heat [Tony LEGENDS].
He intricately cuts and re-cuts the sample to its
bare essence. Making it meet at ends its never met at before.
All the while holding the track together with a funky snare
round kick, and a funky ass bassline [yeah yall know i love my basslines]
Hiphop wise this is the illest use of the sample as he takes different
parts to create movement, but surprises you with when & where he uses them.
I love the vocal sample that happens in there to lift it up, thats amazing.
Its like a string vocal. If you really know your hiphop you will understand
the science that is going on here. This is how ALL hiphop used to be.
I went to a J.Dilla tribute night on saturday and this would of gone down
a treat in there, simply cos its creative funky hiphop.

My 3 fav's were Chew my Grits, Skymute and Winchesta Heat

My winner is skymute, for thinking outside the box and being damn good at it.
