I don't know who judges the submissions but they're on some bullshit.

They said these two songs were completely unrelated. The system won't even allow you to submit the match because they've specifically blocked it due to the number of submissions. I guess it's cheaper to buy off a whosampled judge than to pay royalties.

They also rejected this pair when I submitted it. The sample is not an exact match but it no longer has to be after that Uptown Funk lawsuit. Interpolations are supposed to count and there's a drop-down menu for them.

A while back I saw a video where Prince was talking about the road commercial music is on because of over sampling.

That Tame Impala and George Benson thing is a stretch.

I would've denied you too, fam. :D

What about the first one?
Definitely the same chords and key, but not derivative or interpolated IMO.

I bet you can find a million records that just play B flat minor and F minor over and over, throughout the song.

Think about the New Jack Swing era.
Mad songs' chords (including Teddy's Jam) were based off of the chords of Debarge's I Like it. But the songs were definitely different.

*I'm not a music guy. I'm just a HUGE fan of sample digging/identification*

How they snitchin' without no fast food meal? That's against snitchin' rules.....

They're smoking crack

Rejection #1
This song came out a year before the R Kelly one and had alledgedly sat on the shelf for several years before then

Rejection #2

He copies the style of the vocals at 1:20 and the hook later on

I think they have eastern european people making the comparisons based on the wording in their notes. People tend to stick to whatever kind of music they grew up with and have a hard time adapting to new stuff once they hit their forties. These guys didn't hear the Tom's Diner sample in the Shawty Redd song because they've probably never listened to it regularly when they were young. How they can say the R Kelly song had a completely different instrumental than the Rick Ross one is beyond me.
