They need to set some rules on what it takes to be honored. Here is

The Individual had to be famous for over 15 years.

Heres a hypothetical break down for 2008 HHH

2 from 15-20 years back from the current year (Let's say Latifah and Will/Jeff)

2 from 21-25 years back from the current year (Lets say UTFO and Roxanne Shante')

2 26 years back to 1973. (Let's say Cold Crush and Treacherous 3)

1 Producers and DJ's (Let's Say Mister Magic)

1 Movies and Television (Let's say Graffiti Rock)

The only exceptions to the rule would be an untimely death.

how about just honoring the top 4 or 5 individuals or groups who made an impact and/or high record sales in each year following hip hops mainstream break thru..from 79 on.. with special tributes to the forefathers of the early and mid 70s sprinkled in.

That way your not jumping from era to era haphazardly and honoring someone from 5 years ago with someone from 25 years ago and skipping all those in between..
