A robbery ended tragically last Friday afternoon, around 4:55 p.m., at a car wash located on Avenida El Lago, in the Martínez Martelo neighborhood, Colombia. The confrontation left a teenager dead and a man injured, causing panic among residents and patrons.
According to preliminary information, 17-year-old Jesús Murillo Utria entered the establishment brandishing a firearm and threatened a customer wearing a chain around his neck. During the approach, the victim was shot and required hospitalization.
At the time of the robbery, a plainclothes police officer on the scene responded. The officer drew his standard-issue weapon, and an intense exchange of gunfire ensued with the robber.
Security camera footage captured the tense moments, showing the teenager dressed in a black sweater, jeans, and white sneakers. The confrontation lasted about two minutes until the young man was shot and died instantly at the scene.
The Colombian police reported that they have ruled out robbery, treating the case as self-defense on the part of the officer. The incident remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
