Why the sudden obsession with the noose?

I can't put my finger on it yet but how is it this is showing up everywhere in the news all of a sudden? This kind of shit seems to always happen during election time like clockwork.

I remember in Tennessee when Al Gore's campaign ran an ad on black radio that said George Bush wants to take "black people back to the time we were picking cotton." And my reaction was, why is he running this kind of ad on black radio rather than how much he could improve our communities by doing, what-ever. Why are we getting all this attention to race since we got more shit to worry about than issues of race?

So I'm wondering what the fuck is up??

What is the purpose and is there a purpose for why this is happening? And why now?

Is it because a noose can quickly make major news? Is it because of the youtube generation doing this shit for video fun at our expense? Is it because of Obama's rise in the body politic or some other motivation to corral black people into a specific point of view; so the powers that be could move us en-masse into some state of hysteria over this and other racial issues. Or is it something less complicated like a rise of the klan?

Anybody else want to weigh in on this question?

Copycat "crimes"/stunts (for attention) are common after something provocative dominates the news for a bit.

It could be a combination of everything that you mentioned. Obama's candidacy could be one of the main reasons. The noose may be a symbol to remind us to stay in our "place." Whenever the media pays special attention to something there is an organized agenda. These stories are making the national news for a reason. It's not as if missing black people get national attention, but a symbol of racial oppression is all over the news. I see this as just another approach to mind control. Get people all riled up into believing that racial tensions are on the rise so that we can hate each other even more than we already do. Divide and conquer is as old as mankind.

The only thing it's "coincidental" with is the Jena 6 coverage, which has mentioned the word "noose" a million times. Doesn't take much more than that for idiots (with a Howard Stern Fan mentality and a need to go against the popular grain) to see what kind of reaction they can get from similar stunts. It'll run its course in a minute, like all of these things do.

The media is being run by people with an agenda. Everything that we see is controlled by people with power. We only see what they want us to see. This is why certain news stories are never covered on a national level. Many reporters that want to tell stories are scared to do so because of the backlash from the powers that be. You should question these things. These stories are making the national news for a reason. It is hard to control people that are aware and highly educated about national and world affairs.

It's just about media attention. Getting to see something you've done splashed across the internet and news channels. If someone really wanted to do something hateful, it would be much stronger than a noose. White folks really don't care enough about blacks to get very creative in their taunting stunts.
