Gosta to stop Bullshiting and gon head and cop that BITCH...
Yeah you are correct the 8800 does have unified shaders I mispoke on that. Admitedly I haven't been keeping up on Nvidia tech much in the last year but... The Xenos is not (just) a X1800 it was a custom GPU based on new (embeded 10mb eDRAM, Unifeid Shader system) and old tech like the R300 core that you speak of and ushering in the r520 it was the GPU that introduced Unified Shaders first (emulated or hardware wise it did it first). You need to do the research first. Nvidia's 8800 is the first video card containing unified shader and floating point processing. The Card the 360 uses, is just a modified ATi x1800. It only emulates unified shading. NOT THE SAME THING! The 8800 (g80 core) is one of the most ground breaking cards of all time. The leap in technology even surpasses the time when ATi brought out the 9700 pro's, that were ground breaking for there time. The efficiency and effortlessness of the 8 series cards are incomparable to ANYTHING on the market. ATi's top of the line cards are fumbling failures in comparison with all the current draw, overheating, etc.
In case you haven't heard ATi is mess right now. The fusion of CPU's and GPU's is just speculation to keep the investor happy.
The issue with AA and AF, only proves my point. Consoles are limited in graphical power. Finding the mystery egg is nonsense. The name of the game is which developer, can develop a more efficient engine. Artistic style also plays a mjor role.
I have most of the games that came out on 360 for my PC. When I compare them with the console version, it's damn near embarrassing.

It does have Unified Shaders everything I have read to this point has stated this.
I didn't deny that ATI was a mess at allAnd once again yes the 8800 is a complete beast I already admited that where is the debate in that? I'm simply saying that if the consoles had more ram running games comprable to what the PC is doing at similar resolution wouldn't be a problem... The issue with AA and AS/AF is a memory issue not a hardware power issue.
My 6800 ultra can do the same shit the 8800 can do just not at the same levels.... get what I'm saying? Why because it has a higher clock rate, more memory, more transitors, faster ram, unified shaders et cetera.
But I can still run the same games and for the most they look the same (aside from Crysis) I'm not saying that a "mystery egg" will make these systems perform on par like a top of the line PC.... who would expect that? 279-499 systems compared to a 1800+ system only a fool would think that. I'm mostly a PC gamer btw so this isn't a console dude trying to come out of left field with an un winnable debate.
Simply put if the consoles had more ram (2gb+) they would be able to produce close to Crysis quality graphics and run them at a good frame rate.
You definitely need to keep up with the new times. If you're interested, because gaming PC's no longer cost $1800 bucks. Try half of that. If that. Most tech heads have HDTV's, so monitors aren't needed in some cases. The basic budget computer comes with 2gb ram, and a multi core CPU, for around 400 bucks. Slap an 8800 gt in it for around $250. Voila! You have enough power to crush any console!
BTW 6800's can't support Shader model 4 like the 8 series. Nor are they anywhere near as fast. That's an old school card now! You also forgot the biggest difference. DIRECTX 10!!!!!!! The main reason Crysis can't be fully ran on consoles!
6800's are childs play now. My laptop will murk them little shits. Try running Gear of War at 35 fps at 1600x1050. My laptop can with the 7900 gt. A 6800 would look like a slide show!
So you get a $400 CPU, a $250 Vid Card right you're at 650 you need good ram and with games now a days you need about what 2gigs minimum that will run you another $150 thats $800. Case, sound card, Hard Drives, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor and you're closer to $1800 than you are to a 299 (xbox 360) or a 399 (PS3). For the average consumer that task is far too daunting and they'd just pay out of pocket at the store or online.. Tell me I'm lying.
Fam I build computers but haven't needed to for a good 3 years like I said.
You're steadily trying to make this a pissing contest when its not (I'm not even trying to compete). I know my 6800 ultra isn't on par with a 8 series card
I've been playing Quake III Arena, Counter Strike Soucre, Battle Field 2, Quake 4, and City of Heroes the last 3 years... I haven't needed to upgrade
Now that Crysis, Gears, UT3, and others are out I'm gonna build a new system. Hell Team Fortress 2 is chuggin a little on my shit but its perfectly playable thats my whole point.
When I get around to building my new joint I'll be sure to let you peep it![]()
You won't be able to pop that shit then I promise cause I'm going all out for my new one.
Traditionally what I do is recycle what I want to save from my current one and put the rest to the side (spare parts/spare PC) the one I'm on now I'm gonna fix up for my ex and my shorties (No gaming for them just home work and surfing). So I'm gonna prolly spend 1500+ on my new one. New everything then I'll be set for a good minute again. Slightly upgrade my parts to keep it in line performance wise. You'd be surprised. A budget Gateway computer from Tigerdirect.com has all the shit you need so far as CPU,memory,BUS speed, PCIe, etc. You can get them for close to nothing. The 8800 gt is a single din video card, but it's almost as powerful as the 8800 gtx. So all you have to do is slap it in. That's what I did! Except my 8800 gts is dual din, so I had to make a couple modifications. The BTX motherboard I have is awkward, but it is also superior to ATX's. It has a 2000mhz BUS!
Building a PC from the ground up costs a little more, but prices are falling.
Because it has better games, and a far better Online set up? Yea, it's NICE that the ps3 can surf the web, but no one buys a ps3 so they can surf the web, as they would most definitely have a PC for that.
Also the fact that streaming movies into my bedroom was a breeze. I still haven't got my xbox to do that since you have to have Windows media hooked up.
Your right, I didn't buy mine to surf. But I was happily surprised when I found out that it could "surf the web" so I didn't have to leave my bedroom and walk down the hallway to my office to surf. Also the fact that streaming movies into my bedroom was a breeze. I still haven't got my xbox to do that since you have to have Windows media hooked up.
Like I said I have all 3 systems...I like my PS3 the best because it does way more stuff...

All have been streaming video to the 360 since the 06 fall update and there a quite a few others.
I think this one does also

How much did your PC cost compared to a PS3 or 360?
Yeah bitch I'm looking at you....

Hardocp have gotten their hands on specs and pictures of NVIDIA's not-yet-released GeForce 9800 GX2. The new card will launch in late February or early march and replace the 8800 Ultra single GPU card. The card is supposed to be 30 percent faster than the 8800 Ultra, has a 65nm GPU and will support Quad SLI, yes Quad.
Other technical tidbits from Hardocp:
1GB Frame Buffer
Two PCBs
Two 65nm GPUs Total
256 Stream Processors Total
The memory isn't exactly clear, but Hardocp is wishing it would be two 766MB framer buffers per a GPU, but guessing it's something closer to 512MB. All I know is that my graphics card is now officially out-dated. Boo!

$599I can't wait to see the price on that card.![]()
