Why none of you showed interest in the promo I feautured last month where you got optionsxpress was offering $500 for depositing $500 in an account for 6 months?

I ask because I read the post by followup (yes I read any post that says "serious", "important", "public service" in the title). Without those I may not have entered. She asked what folks doing with their money.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

I did not have good internet access last month. Wish I would have seen what it was about :(

It was posted in the BGOL BUSINESS & NETWORKING BOARD section of BGOL. I thought about posting it over here but didn't. Didn't think I had to. I assumed that everyone went to that section. I check for stuff beneficial to my life there when I log there more than I check the main board at times because stuff gets lost over there. Too much posts for me to mull through to see what's good.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

I wouldn't have done it because something that sounds too good to be true usually is... and right now around the holiday season, who knows what kind of stipulations that offer would have... does your money need to be locked in for a certain time? IF so, how would this compare to the investments I already have.. and seriously... is this the best time to put money in a brokerage firm?

3 reasons

because i already have a close family friend that manages my money. though it isn't much, he treats my account like its just as valuable as his other customers...

i trust him...

and I don't spend much time on the business and networking site anymore. used to pm some people when I read an interesting thread or had some info to offer but I don't always have the best of experiences on bgol. there may be some people who are sincerely about business but weeding my way through the bs to the ones who are...well I get tired of it sometimes.

It's only $500 so not much to loose.

The stipulation is that you have to have to lock it up for 6 months, make 1 trade, and maintain a balance of $500. There is nothing out there that you would get that returns on without risk. You would not need to trade with the money. In fact I would recommend you not trade with it so that way the brokerage account is essentially a bank account. You have two levels of insurance on your money in the brokerage account similar to FDIC insurance at your bank, up to $25 million.

So you would put an extra $20 in the account to make the one trade buying any cheap stock and leave the $500 in the account. You have no need to touch the account once you've done that. You would treat it just like a six month CD or a Treasury Bill.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

Tell your family member if he has deals this good to please, please please share it with me. If he has this kind of guarantee also; please please share it.

by cheap stock i hope you mean undervalued. i would steer far away from penny stocks if that's what you meant by "cheap stock". you dont buy stocks just because they're under a certain dollar value.

well that depends on what investments you currently have. or did you state that already?

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

It's only $500 so not much to loose.

since when is $500 not a lot to lose? that is more than half my rent... I think that you're not altruistic in asking this... this is your company so you are going to say what you need to say to try to bolster business in these "hard economic times."

I don't have stocks.. I'm just starting out, so I'm doing low-risk things.. I started my portfolio with some cd's maturing at different dates... when they are maturing I look at other interest rates and how they compare...

I think that right now, this is the time to buy good stock if you have the money to gamble, but for most of us.. that isnt' the reality...

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

Personally I don't know you, so that is why. I am really skeptical doing business like that online.

There are lots of low-risk stocks. I actually think the stock market is lower risk and higher returns than money market accounts. And you have to invest with the mentality that you are not going to touch them for years--decades. They become more valuable that way than trading them and buying/selling all the time.

Hmm . . .

Wonder if anonymity of the internet has something to do with the lack of response ? ? ?
Hell, lots of people "knew" Bernard Madoff and he fucked em for billions.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

for example....
Costco, Walmart... stocks in businesses which are pretty stable. Even more volatile ones are profitable in the long run if you reinvest your dividends and let them grow (McDonald's, Coca Cola, Nike).

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

here's a couple of reasons:

1) i don't go over to that board (but i will now)

2) i have seen it in your sig but it looks like some scam stuff

3) it looked to go to be true

4) i don't know you or of you

5) after reading your response of $500 at nothing to lose, i wouldn't invest in what your "sellin" anyway cuz my money, whether $500 or $5000 is important to me and it needs to be important to whoever im trusting my money to

She has nothing that will give her a guaranteed 96% in six month. If you have it please let me know.

When I say cheap I meant cheap. The plan is not to invest the ($500) in anything but rather to keep the money ($500) there in cash as you would in a CD at the bank or broker. The only reason for buying any stock is to satisfy the requirement of making one trade over the six month time. So the $20 is just to cover the $15 commission or whatever it is (I get discounted commission at $5-9 in my various accounts with them). So you purchase any stock that will come up to less that $5.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

OK. Sorry about saying $500 is not much to lose. I have lost more than that at times in a few minutes daytrading and I looked at it from that perspective but I understand totally where you are coming from.

Hey one of my affirmations is: "Money comes easily and frequently." hehehe. So I hope you accept me as I am, even though I look at certain amounts of money differently.

This is not my company. I would have made no money from that particular promotion. The one in my signature I can. I posted that one because it was a better offer than the one in my signature and it is my personality to share with others as I would like others to do with me. I would have really felt bad if after sharing the other and you found out that there was one better and you asked me why I didn't share it with you.

Seems the $500 not much to loose statement has a lot of folks upset.

For those of you with 401k and other retirement accounts when you looked at it and it was down $500 then $1000 then $40,000, how much is $500 in perspective.

I have people who I have loaned thousands of dollars that I have had to write off because the went bust with the real estate market. I always think of it as something I can make back and I was blessed to have had it to have helped whoever it benefitted.

I have had tenants staying at my homes that have owed me a couple thousand and people would ask me why I let them stay... It's only money. I can chose to look at life as a blessing when I am able to make the lives of others better or I can chose to look at it as I am making people take advantage of me. It's all perspective.

Since the life I like living is one in which blowing $500 is nothing then thinking of that proposal as one of those occasions then its all good.

Affirmation: Life is beautiful. Money comes easily and frequently to me.

Re: why none of the females took advantage or even showed interest. Females Respnse

i hear that now.
i thought you had to put a substancial amount of that 500 into a position; stocks, bonds, funds, etc. so i retract.
holla

oh you like dow stocks. too slow for me. and cyclical.
i'll be short selling them though (costco wallmart, etc) after the shopping season when reports come out how people spent less over the holidays.

im too aggressive for the ones you have in mind but i understand where you're going with it

Yeah, I'm pretty boring with my money. I only do things that are a guaranteed return: CDs, stocks, 401k. I will not do a mutual fund because everyone I meet with says "there is no guarantee, but most of my clients blah blah blah". I have not taken a loss yet by studying and picking my own stocks. That's why if he's saying I could have flipped $500 in only 6 months, I really missed out :(

EDIT: Forgot one thing. I've had both for the past 5 years. Walmart took a BIG dip a couple of years ago, but when they came back up.... :D Costco has not had a major dip since I've been with them. My children are going to be good

I like your strategy and I am glad I created this post because it has totally shown you in a different light and I think it has helped a lot of people to see you got much more going on that which we knew.

I like KMP, BPT (oil pipeline), COP (Oil conglomorate), PCU, FCX (copper), SLX (steel indx). They pay dividends also.

Reason: If the stimulus starts working and we have the Obama infrastructure projects plus those proposed by China and India we are going to need oil (OIH - oil ETF, DIG - Ultra Oil ETF), Steel (SLX), Copper, Cement (cemex - CX). From what I am nderstanding now there is going to be a supply problem with oil (period). Since you are long term (2 to 5 years), you are in better or as good as those of us who mess with this shit everyday making a livings, to make that big money. Eventually daytraders go back to your sort of investing and try to enjoy life.

Just keep doing your research and I have faith that you will do very well.

Mutual Funds can be ok too. Sometimes its all you have. Most 401k only have those and company stock. What I had advised my then girlfriend / kids mom to do last year when the first big selloff occured in Aug and again in October when it started agian was to sell everything and moved it to cash fund or the money market fund then when we were down significantly and she felt the recovery was beginning then she could dollar cost average in or she could start dollar cost into her company's stock (good blue chip telecom company). She didn't listen ... she has good reasons for not also. Lets just say I am not faultless and she doesn't pick good fights to fight (another thread for that drama which I am never going to start. hehehe)

I have been messing with the FOREX man. Shit is nice. Went into the weekend down $200 on EUR after I saw what appeared to be a overbought situation. It rallied on me further and I added 2 times during the rally. Got some pullback but it was still not below my first entry so I held. Looking back I should have reduced the buy the last 2 positions as they were profitable. Hopefully we get the selloff. The funny thing was I was long all day as I saw it was oversold and I traded around the long position and later in the evening when it rallied to the point where I thought it was oversold and the big rally I was waiting for would never come and sold then went short. It made the big rally I was looking for right then. I didn't use any stops on those over oversold and overbought trades as I guess I got too confident with my signals. hehehe. It was fun though.

You believe this rally in the market man? They have caught me a few times. The morning with that terrible jobs number and the Madoff shit I swore we were going to tank so I got up and jumped into SRS (Real Estate UltraShort) at 104 and didnt set my stop as I wanted to give it a 3-4 point range to run. The stock has been moving 10-20 points per day easily. Man I wish I had set that shit and let it do its thing after that. That shit rallied to 106 and I watched it pull back as the market rallied and the next thing I knew I got a margin call alert and luckily for me the broker closed it when I was down $800 as I was still in disbelieve sitting on my hands. Totally not what one is supposed to do but that's a bad habbit I kicked.

Followup while I believe your long term strategy can be good like Waren Buffets', I do know there are times when it is advantageous to sell them. Even Warren sells stocks these days. GreyGoose[/B mentioned cyclical in his response and that can be one of the occasions to sell (before the end of the cycle). Another occasion to sell is when the rally is over or when there is a bubble and one that has been so well chronicled, argued and justified like this one. This one just like the tech one gave even common folks plenty of prophets with warnings and time to get out and sit on the sidelines.

Haha. You probably read William J O'Neil guy for Investors Business Daily. I think those are good books for your strategy.

Except from one of the IBD's book: The Major Sell Rules - http://books.google.com/books?id=SuE7j4-iBCEC&printsec=frontcover#PPA58,M1

I wouldn't deposit any money in any account in the US.

Since you dont trust the US banks, where do you bank ?

I have money in 2 banks that were considered failed (IndyMac and Wamu). I have yet to have problems getting my money. If you weren't told on the news that the FDIC did something to the banks because they were failing you would not have know because it's business as usual from the customer perspective. Considering that all other banks are mirroring the US system then please tell me why the others are better? Other than the garnishing of your money and that can only be avoided if you bank in a safe haven with levels of trusts and you haven't been convicted of any federal crimes (convictions can start lifting some veils as the countries will share in the spoils of the garnisment, Obama made shit harder for king pins all over).

While I agree this is online, I do know so significant relationships that have developed online. From mariages to huge deals. Yes I know there is scams too but there are scams right in your face and as an earlier poster pointed out that the biggest scam was carried by someone people have met face to face. Seems online we approach things more skeptical and therefore use caution and do a little more research.

BGOL started out as us just sharing naked pics and gif files till we started talking shit and found out others had similar interest and then the board grew into something more than just pix and gifs.

There has been so much that we have gained because others have shed a little about their interst. They have found others doing the same things and the sharing begins.

When ING just started I was sharing with folks this similar kind of promo and folks that it was too good to be true and/or they didn't trust this online stuff.

Back then all they had to do was open the account with $1 and get $50.

So I hope folks stick around this board so we can continue to learn more about each other and therefore be able to grow personally because someone has shared a little more of themselves with us. Sometimes what they may bring to us is something that cause us to return to basics or back to what's important or something that propels us to the next level.
