I saw netflix trailer for asian romcom (trailer below) and i was thinking its now rare to see a black romance film , even in tv shows . In tv shows like discovery star treck the black guy is gay and the black woman is fucking arab guy. It shouldnt be the norm seeing blacks in interacial relationship on screen and when other races are not following the trends.

when they destroyed that actual black film community and gave us "black stars"

they doubled down on the homo agenda to further destroy the idea of black family

all the women are useless whores now and applauded for it

this is what you get when u lets cacs and fags define your image

That's because there has been a concerted effort to push interracial couples and gay couples to the forefront in popular media. :dunno:

Especially when those couplings involves a Black person. I've noted the most popular/recurring themes involving Blacks are:
- Black man, White woman.
- Black man, Hispanic woman.
- Black woman, White man.
- Black woman, White woman.
- Black man, White man.

The emphasis/importance of presenting happy, healthy, loving hetero Black couples has become less and less valid... :smh:

And notice; that while there has been a decrease in the presentation of happy, loving Black couples in media, (strangely enough), there has been no real sharp decline in showing White couples on TV and in films....o_O

:smh:
it is not less valid

it is an actual threat

cacs do not raise their offspring at all

they see them as fully formed humans with valid opinions as soon as they fall out of the womb

so back when we had stable homes and strong parents we automatically had an advantage

not so much anymore

Hallmark movies and mysteries channel finally released a mystery series with black leads/love interests. It stars Holly Robinson Peete and Rick Fox.

Black movies have two agendas: uplift the foolish, irresponsible black woman and shit on the hardworking black man. And romance and true love don’t really pop like that with us. Too busy being validated, using folks, trying to come up. Love is spiritual and visual and too many black women are all looks and no substance, far, weaved and tatted up with kids. Me and my homies all discuss this shit. We are all 40’s, successful, in the gym, clean cut and driven. Too many women today are a implants, weaves, eyelashes and no gym memberships. These hoes in the streets while they man on the grind. Black men see this shit. That’s why we opt to smash these broads and bounce. I want a toned woman. Black women don’t eat right or workout unless they are wifi hoes. Average women don’t fuck with a gym. Sad that sluts stay in shape but wives don’t. That’s why the gram hoes are shining. A man she a trifling bitch with a trainer and abs but don’t see wives working on themselves. Two white bitches in my building be in the gym before me. Old white hoes. No husband but stay on they shit. The most successful black women I know in the building is fat. She’s a judge. Wife as fuck! No kids, fat, etc. these mediocre white bitches stay on point, just ugly in the face. Black men tired of the visual lie. Waist shapers and surgeries-bitch go with me to the gym. But the don’t. Baddest women in atlanta on the upgrade, the moral, humble women fat and classy. Dudes choosing the hoes. Portuguese broad ugly in the face but be on that bike and yoga daily. Always see her in the gym. Pussy swole in those yoga shorts. She ain’t cute no more but he voice is soft, her demeanor is nice, and she in shape. Each gender has given up because neither is doing what the other wants or needs. When my job gave me the option to transfer I took solely to meet black women. And I do. But waaaaay too many of em are fat club rats with degrees. They don’t even talk about romance. They talk about being treated and spoiled. They don’t even know how to be good or know what they got is good. So how they gon write scripts about shit they don’t even recognize???

i hear what you sayiing , what am saying that having control or seeing black love on screen encourages our kids to maintain certain values instead of adapting other peoples values and views .

Because you muthafuckas don't support it. :dunno:

There have been

Beale Street was a love story

A Boy A Girl A Dream

I told every brother I know to take their wives, girlfriends and tricks to see Beale St. They refused, it's on DVD and they still refused.

Netflix has a couple of them.

Blacks idea of romance is very different than how western society sees it.

I would love to dig deeper into this topic, I will revisit this thread later.
The black AMERICAN idea of romance will always involve the issue of racism to some degree tho in the 90s and 00s there were a number that didn't

I think cats are looking for conspiracies a little too hard considering the romcom isn't exactly the average black mans go to movie genre:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Romance and black American culture is almost like a contradiction. I told my wife, it’s hard to focus on being romantic (films) when the country is constantly trying to break you down.

You have to find romance in places that are difficult.

The 90s started a black romance boom on film. There exist more of those films in the 90s versus any other decade of black cinema.

I have yet to pin point clearly why the 90s. Maybe you have some insight.

this may as well be black...they used nothing but black music :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

FUCK THAT THIS COUNTS AS A BLACK ROMCOM:giggle:

it was a breakout point... anything prior to 1970 was almost nonexistent...from the 70s to 80s was still coming of the civil rights movement (Claudine, nothing but a man, etc).
the late 80s and 90s was the breakout point where you just wanna see two people be in a relationship that's NOT encumbered by some socio-political bullshit....like white people can do.

Yeah, that makes sense. I also believe all this correlated with the shift of music as well. New Jack swing really took the romance way of thinking to new heights.

Who set the trend in the 80s?

Romance in hood films is another topic I would like to dive into in the future.

They are out there.
Many folks think they are corny.
I am one of them. I try. I got this. I got this..

Each new chick has men up in a theater trying to like that shit. The scripts-no matter the race-are all predictable. We know he/she is or isn’t gon die. We know the light skinned dude gon get the girl or the dark skinned dude gon wife the white girl. I’m tired of watching movies of any race where the man need to bust his ass to measure of to the standards of a single mom, broke bitch or rude hoe. You can’t name a sitcom other than the Cosby Show where the husband isn’t a buffoon; same goes for movies. I personally get nothing from watching a solid dude beg a bitch to be with him. Show me the movie where the single mom or stuckup bitch fesses up for fucking up her blessings or passing on a quality dude because of hypocritical standards most broads don’t even meet but expect us to.

-Black woman, Native American man

The romantic tale of a urban woman frustrated by dead end relationships (and from the trailer meaning broke black men) seeks love near a Indian Reservation.

Well.
That's... different.
And based on that trailer, it didn't really look like she "seek love near a Indian Reservation". It's more like she went on a trip and found romance with a Native American man. There's a difference...
Also, this film doesn't look all that much different from "How Stella Got Her Groove Back". Only in this version, the female protagonist hooks up with someone of a different race. :dunno:

One of the best ones in recent memory...very underrated. The marketing, trailers, previews etc didnt do it justice at allllll.

Thought it was just gonna be a typical boy meets girl type of shit..or a "bodyguard" rip off...but its way more than that... touched on the exploitation, hypersexualization of women in the music industry, class, race issues etc well written and directed

I do think we need waay more of them but its just not my genre,

now a good love story drama with a little suspense and a twist at the end is very watchable..

but normally those kind of movies Id have to have a significant other to truly enjoy it..

to me those types of movies are made for cuddling..

psychological thrillers/mysteries all fuckin day over here...
