Why NFL star Michael Bennett skips direct deposit and keeps his checks ‘until the end of the season’

Still dont understand how holding on to the paper check resist temptation. Why not put in a CD or savings account to accumulate a little interest and just dont touch the account

But it is saving. If you’re concerned about the future why not just save and get free money too. What’s the issue? You’re doing the same thing except you’re not generating interest. If you’re holding money why not get another million for letting them borrow your money? Sheeeeeit

Sounds good until the bailout happens.

Smart dude, I give him credit for good money management.

But I would still cash them checks. You can have them deposited in a account and set it up with no debit card or checks. And have it setup where you have to actually walk into a bank and withdraw money.

You wanna cash them checks in case that team/employer goes broke for whatever reason.

but how much is he losing in interest of those checks. I would deposit them into a high interest savings account for the year - same effect and he gets interest.

Don’t get why people are calling him dumb.....he’s not blowing his money on dumb shit

His frugality is admirable but a bit extra imo. Instead of holding on to all the checks and earning no interest perhaps he should be depositing his money or at least most of it into tax shelters. :hmm:

This is stupid.

Seriously instead of doing all that how about you just don't touch the account the checks go to and create an account for living expenses. That way the direct deposit account can collect as much interest as possible.

People always gotta be extra and others will act like that's genius.
