Somethin y'all gotta understand is that SNL is pretty much "The Lorne Michaels Show", and this whole anniversary was designed to celebrate HIM.

Problem with that is... During the Eddie Murphy era, Lorne was not at SNL, and it was ONLY because Eddie was there (at that time) that the show even survived until they brought Lorne back... So because Lorne was running the 40th anniversary special, most insiders assumed that Eddie was gonna get the short end of the stick anyway, since he was never one of Lorne's guys, and Lorne is REALLY serious about only working with his own people.

And don't hate on Norm MacDonald. He was never a company guy. He got fired because he said what he wanted to say, instead of what NBC suits wanted him to say... Which is probably why they sent him in to talk to Eddie.

I respect eddie a lot for not doing but I wonder if this was instead an in living color reunion would he feel more comfortable to do the sketch. Yes i know he wasn't on in living color, but I'm speaking more to the environment where it's like we as blk ppl are being funny and not cooning as the vibe is on snl. Chris rock talked about that before in interviews where he said he felt more comfortable on in living color bc he didn't have to do every blk sketch and could just do characters.

He going in way to much especially after how the right wings went after his girl Dunham...he need to chill.
