Why don’t Mint Condition get the credit they deserve?

That's a good question! My guess is that they were a group in the wrong era. In the 90s there were very few acts that wrote, produced and performed all the instruments on their music. Seems the industry had moved on from groups reminiscent of the 70s where everyone was an actual contributer i.e. Earth Wind and Fire, Switch and the Ohio groups.

Simple: Stokley has a voice you have to grow to appreciate. The pitch was, at time, feminine. After a few songs it grates on you, like Keith Sweat or After 7. Good songs, but after a while your ears tune it out. Jodeci had bangers, but after a while you go “Why is this ninja screaming…in a love song?” Franky Beverly had a voice you never tired of; the shit was melodic. Those groups, the singing sounds forced or monotoned.

Interesting take but I can see it now that you mention it

They don’t get mentioned like Jodeci and B2M
Boys 2 men basically made a graduation song.. jodeci kinda change the way you looked at rnb groups especially with the new Jack swing era… they both kinda left a legacy… what song of mint condition can compare to the masses to be on that level

The 1990's r&b groups were plenty of them and a lot of them didn't stick around for very long and you know why?cause they were cookie cutter groups that were put together, some of em couldn't even sing they were in the group cause they looked good and people started to understand this and if they didn't have a hit right out of the gate they were brushed to the side and it was the next groups turn.

The more people know about the industry and their little tips and tricks the harder it was to sell these artist and groups like they once were able to in the decade before.

Just like Jack Thriller from thisis50.com said he asked JOJO and K-ci "where was Devante and Mr.Dalvin???" and he said they were like "Weeee don't know, maybe their at home...." as if they weren't apart of Jodeci and they didn't know them niggas lol.K-Ci and Jojo fist fighting each other before shows.....just shit fans shouldn't know about.

I like Mint Condition because their actually a band and they come from under that Prince's unbrella which should make them a stay touring group but it's 2025 if you're not on some rappers song or singing but looking like a rapper,it's going to be hard for you.Alot of the younger generation like r&b but they love it when it comes from someone white who's half as talented but pre-packaged for them.

There was so many groups in the 1990's,you just don't know what you'll find....who remembers po'broke n lonely?you rememeber them?me.you and Wino Ned

Fair and truthful
Why you think they never reached that peak
Jodeci stretched in multiple decades with hits.. b2m had a song that meant multiple things and became an anthem in diff fields.. mint had tracks but none become an anthem under certain genre.. it’s so hard literally became graduation track and in some cases funeral songs
