Why DO clever women fall for second-rate men?

oh yeah i've dealt w/ guys that "have had their shit together" and to be honest, (this may just be in my region)...they were assholes

they didn't really like to mess w/ chics on thier levels and were whores.

see they knew they were of high commodity: 1) the hood chics wanted them to get out the hood, 2) the chics who were on their level wanted them b/c of the similarities SOOOOO they used that to their advantage

and i do restrict my dating to black guys only, and most of the black guys at my school used college as the "let me taste the rainbow and tell black girls what they aren't" playground. i'm talkin the most extreme black pride speaking, africana studies major, professors and the like w/ white women and every other type of woman but black on thier arm..let me calm down.

i'm just being honest :smh:

yeah...maybe it's time for me to step out of the box

oh yeah Collinize my posts...i don't care....i'm venting and it feels good:angry::yes:

I've seen that but i don't judge cus well I can't see into their hearts... I feel you though. My view is if bruhs do it, then you might as well see other men - don't have to be white but can be Hispanic, Indian, etc, who can be just as dark skinned as black men (i.e. Dominican men).

I'm tired of trying to figure black men out. Imma just pray God sends me a good man. I thought I had what I wanted but I guess I wasn't what he wanted. I guess now that I think about it we were not equally yoked. He has to many kids and I dont have any and would like to have some one day. In addition, he told me from the beginning he was into ghetto girls, I am the complete opposite. and I never could figure out why he liked me.:dunno:

I never knew why it was so hard for most women to be a good judge of character

We been through to much for it to be just about that. But *shrugs* I am not ruling it out. It's funny cause we both were each others opposites of what we normally like. For once I thought I had a good guy as oppose to the bad boy type...

I am considering going back to that type... at least I know what I am dealing with lolll

Why don't you work on yourself 1st? Maybe its not all about the men...
In your period of being single:
Get in the Gym and get your body in shape
If you are in school concentrate on that
Get involved in a hobby
Volunteer

-- And before you say something negative about the gym comment. I am a man and I know what men look for. If you were a guy...I would have given the advice "Focus on your money..and the women will come". But being a woman.....your physical is going to the the 1st attractor of a man.
So why not work on that? Since that is something you have the power to effect?
If you lost what looks like 30lbs - 40lbs that would open you up to another tier/caliber of men.
Just like me getting in the MILLION dollar tax bracket would open me up easier to another caliber of broad.

I'm tyring to positive here not negative.

It's okay to vent, but don't allow your past experiences to paint a broad brush over all Black men.

My clan of friends are ALL married to Black women with college degrees, including post graduate degrees. To be honest too, most of us met our wives in college. Moreover, there is no FRIGGING WAY that I myself could end up with anything but a Black woman. I use OJ as my example of what can happen to you if you choose to do otherwise.

Thing is, people complain about Black women being a handful, which may be true. But if you're a Black MAN, then being with a Black woman is not a very difficult thing to do. You just gotta handle yours!!!

A better question is why are certain men so INTIMIDATED by smart (and independent) women? I guess they figure that their boyish "games" will be exposed.
I am not saying all independent women act this way but generally independent women have one major flaw and that is submission. When I speak of submission I am not saying do what a man says. When I speak of submission I speak of allowing a man to play his role. Some independent career minded woman have the I can pay my own bills, take care of myself, I don't need a man to do anything for me attitude.

This leaves the man feeling worthless in the relationship. Women don't realize the joy men feel when they can provide for their woman. I am not talking about just financially...but also emotionally. When you take away a mans leadership you take away the man.

That's an excellent point. :yes::yes::yes:
