Why did the Democrats give Bush everything?

I thought we, the people, put the democrats back into power to end the war. The war is still going. They keep giving Bush the funds to keep the war going.

Why is this? Not enough votes? Not a big enough majority? Can't they just defund the war?

It is set up so that anyone who opposes funding the war is looked upon as someone who wants the soldiers to die. They need funding to get supplies to properly defend themselves. It seems that whenever Bush asks for more $$, the first person to oppose it is immediatley seen as un-patriotic. I feel if I wanted to stop the war and was in power, I would let it be known that I will no longer fund this war. America's troops deserve the safety of being out of this oil based war. I am not saying I don't support the troops, I don't support the current war. This is when Bush's team twists angles and would call me unintelligent and say if we pull the troops out now, America & the world would not be safe. I would then ask if we bring the troops home now, could we divert that money into finding a way to get off of our oil dependancy. Also, as far as our safety goes, we Americans hate to think that maybe it's our police the world policy that makes us hated by so many groups. On a side note, if we were really policing the world, I think the genocide issue in Africa is more important than oppression in the Middle East.

Dem's are weak and have no backbone to really do the will of the people. Bush has had virtually NO approval rating and he still got away with murder, cronyism, lying and a host of other impeachable offenses.

To make a long story short America has to be included among the world's leaders. It's not about oil in Iraq it is about the U.S being able to exert it's will on foreign policy. China and Russia could take a more promenient role in Global affairs. If they did it would mean fewer Americans being able to spend their day surfing the internet. America can't go on living high and mighty while the rest of the world lives on 2 dollars a day. Bush slowed the process by invading Iraq but Dems in Congress know it's just a temporary fix. They have to support Bush because they don't have a plan.

Everytime I criticize the democratic party, many of our people immediately ask me if I am Republican. I tell them that I am a registered democrat, but like the Republican party, they haven't really done shit to earn my vote.

Don’t fool yourselves. The rank and file republicans have bought in to this notion of “loosing the war” as an argument. Didn’t we forcefully remove a sovereign leader from his country? Didn’t we execute him? Didn’t we install a government more favorable to the United States’s interests than the people of Iraq’s interests? Didn’t we create a constitution that forever entitles Iraqi’s natural resources (oil) to American oil companies and business interests? Aren’t we building the largest political fortress/embassy outside of another country’s soil? Aren’t we building one of the largest military bases in the world in Iraq? What is your definition of “winning the war”?
