actually i think marlo is a better boss than avon. thing is he was more gully than stringer & he was more clever than avon which is why he ended up getting the best of both of them...his downfall is that he's on some "kill him just because" shyt...its one thing to fukk with drug dealers & prostitutes but once you start fukking with regular civilians youre speeding up your own exit out the game...still mad behind that deliverywoman chris partlow killed just to frame omar

I will wait to see how this season plays out but I was thinking about it...and in the end I think Avon is the better boss...I think he is a perfect blend of Prop Joe and Marlo...Prop Joe is too diplomatic...Marlo is too ruthless...Avon has the best of both of them imo...time will tell as we see who prevails...I definitely agree Marlo is more clever and gully but he lacks a certain amount of diplomacy...he can't do it all and that will be his downfall...greed and his powertripping (ie killing them folks you mentioned)...Avon has a respect for the game that keeps him somewhat humble...Marlo's arrogance will definitely do him in...it's too obvious...

True, however Avon was getting strapped up with the crew to look for Marlo, he was taking bullets, breaking bread with the crew, meaning he was hit man, soldier and boss, where as Marlo mainly delegates. He is ripe for a takeover from a subordinate.

Yes but if you recall, they were waiting on Avon to give the order to roll on him the first time and Avon was too heartbroken over String to even discuss war strategies. Avon himself let Marlo off the hook, cause Slim Charles, Bodie and them were ready to body him.

I think thats what makes Marlo's rise so difficult for Bodie. He never really got a chance to shut Marlo down before he got out of hand because of String's reluctance to make bodies and make waves. Then Avon lost his heart for war. Like he said, the game was rigged.

Not quite. Marlo gave Bodie props on his steady profit as an "independent" with no muscle or back up, "game recognizing game". Marlo then gave Bodie the option of taking his package with a 60/40 split or "fall the the fuck back", meaning step off the corner. A pretty good deal since Bodie only had a few "corner boys" working for him as well as the backup needed by being part of Marlo's overall crew

So glad I watched this episode for the very first time last night. Otherwise, some bitch would've ruined it by posting season finale spoilers in the title of a fucking thread.

Instead of titling it something like "Question about the Wire Season 4," and within the post, asking the same question. You could get your answers without fucking it up for people.

Granted he shouldnt have put it in the title, but it is a valid question from a previous season.
