White House Will Appeal .. Judge Holds Stock In Drilling Companies

If some drilling equipment parts are flawed, is it rational to say all are? Are all airplanes a danger because one was? All oil tankers like Exxon Valdez? All trains? All mines? That sort of thinking seems heavy-handed, and rather overbearing

In fact they have grounded entire class of airplane after an accident if they thought there was a design flaw until it could be investigated.

They halted the space shuttle program due to a design flaw for further investigation.

Since it has been acknowledged that the design of the deep water horizon was not up to code and shortcuts had been taken,they should halt drilling until they can make sure the other rigs are up to code.

So we should keep drilling offshore to maintain jobs and to stop it for even a relatively short period of time would be economically catastrophic.
But it would have been better to continue the almost completely vertical freefall of the economy of late 2008-early 2009 instead of passing the Recovery Act/stimulus plan, a time where jobs were being loss at historic levels.
Interesting.

Hey Que did you change your mind or forget?

Nah Iainforgot mofo; LOL.

Bro, I been busy at the office AND I had to make time to take my sons fishing before our favorite "time alone" gets fucking ruined -- or should I say in my best southernese: gets rurnt. lol. School is out so you can understand, they were in no hurry to get back.

But, Yeah, I know to whom you refer. There is a genre of appointees that were made in the South, during Republican administrations, who are pro business, and some other shit, who lack balance for the rest of the real world. This guy is no stranger to being reversed, and I would expect the same to occur with this decision.

Think about it: this guy holds that the President (and I don't give a shit if it was George W. Bush his gotdamself) has not presented sufficient evidence when it seems clear to me at least that:

  • we don't have any experience with blowouts of wells at the depth of this well;

  • we don't know what caused the damn blow out;

  • We don't know at this very moment how to prevent a similar blowout;

  • BP has been completely unable to stop the gotdamn flow; and

  • From every indication, none of the other oil companies drilling or who want to drill has filed a plan that can satisfactorily handle a blowout and stop the damn flow, at this depth.

What further evidence does one need to know and understand that a moratorium is required lest we authorize more of these monsters ???

Hell, I know we need the damn oil, but deep water drilling should be stopped until we know how to prevent and or recover from these kinds of blowouts.

:lol: don't mean to be a pest bruh - get that time in before they get too busy with other things to hang out with u

on the judge
I figured as much when he started preaching and I saw that Ronnie put him up there.
There are answers to two points - the blowout was caused by them doing some shit that ruptured a gasket and pieces came up and some drilling staff had them. There is also a remote shut off device they could have installed for $500k that they didnt - maxdawg told us about that on the mainboard but if that failed all the other stuff about depth still applies.
Actually there was a mexican well in shallow water that blew up the same way in the 70s that took a year or something to fix. The depth makes a hard situation harder - even if it was shallow it'd be still leaking.
