Their way of thinking is not fixated on the material world, (not until now at least) nor is human the ego master of their minds. They don't live in a state of fear, gross consumption or belief system based on the idea of "lack". Some would argue that these kinds of cultures were are the original wealthy people because all of their needs are met by nature.

One of my fav books is called "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. It breaks this down in an entertaining way. It proclaims that Cain and Abel in the bible is allegory refrencing these kinds of people (indigenous Hunter/Gatherersand people more like the ancient Nubians, Vedas or even Greeks (Agricultural societies). Agricultural societies are havens for materialism, greed and Ego (etc). Literally two diametrically opposed ways of living and consciousness. If you believe and live as if you are one with all things generally speaking you become at ease or at peace (with your environment). To outsiders like us people like these will seem like they aren't really living an optimum life, conversely they would view our externalized materialistic ambitions and desires as malformed.

Yeah.

North Africa and southern Europe have been in contact for centuries. Only thing in between them is the Mediterranean Sea. They used that sea to trade and fight. This is how Egypt and Greece were in contact and how even Kefta is giving credit to the north Africans for civilizing the Greeks and Romans. There is a clear line of descent and contact. The Moors conquered southern Europe. You can see art, culture, genetics and language from both regions all over each other.

Conversely , what's between north Africa and Western and Central Africa is the Sahara desert which is the size of the united states. They did trade through there but travel would be much more sparse, and mostly just by merchants, thanks to the use of camels. They also eventually conquered parts of West Africa as well, which we know through the spread or Islam. That's AFTER what happened in southern Europe.
