This was definitely my line of thinking when they first started their national "shit on Obama" tour but it didn't take long for me to have misvivings. Politicians should be critiqued and Obama is not wuthout his faults but goddamn they were everywhere all the time. What really called their motives into question afaic is when all that sponsorship info came out (Wells Fargo my g?).

All this. One of the great aspects of Obama's presidency was showing how selfish many of these dudes were. They were really about us as a whole but just used black folks as a platform for their celebrity and success. Tavis really got down when Obama skipped his Black State of The Union show. When Obama skipped that he complained and then went against everything Obama did. Jesse jackson showed an intense hatred as well. All because Obama made it without them.These mfers would rather a CAC be successful than another black man that was independent of their support.

The criticism of Obama wasn't without merit but there was definitely a personal edge to it which is beneath the image that both men present of themselves....Smiley, with his current issues, is understandable but West needs to make his presence felt in regards to Trump since he positioned himself as a voice of progressives...Trump is certainly a bigger threat to progressive objectives than Obama was
We know for a fact that Trump is a devil because he is white. When Dr. King was alive they asked him in an interview if he thought he might be the first black president. He said he would not accept the job if they gave it to him. For generations we have lived by everything that came from whites even if we knew it was lies and was corrupt.

Because Obama was a person of color. They went at him cause they wanted better results for their people and they felt that he was not helping black communities like he could have. Obama didn't speak much about the police brutality situationa that happened while he was president. In fact it was worse when Obama was president and he had chances to speak out on it more but he didn't. There is nothing to do about Trump, on the offensive, except try to get more of my non voting motherfuckers to change course. I work tirelessly to get more people to register and understand the power of voting, consistently. But shit, we as a people can't even agree on little shit, like how disrespectful the NFL is. So having political discussions, when folks just got beat up at work for 5 days, ain't easy.
I also have taken quite a few people to the gun range. Something about a gun in the hands of a man, and women, changes the mindset from apathy to power.
You can't expect Trump to do shit. I hoped Obama would have done more, YES I UNDERSTAND the limitations he faced. Obama has Blue Dogs ( never forget the bitch Gillibrand was one), on his own team.slowing him down. Yet Trump has McConnell corraling ahop, making his life easy, and Democrats just don't have that same fight.
And I push my family far more than fucking stranger. Hence me, just me, wanting more from Obama. But of course he was still the greatest president, post Roosevelt.
Trump is so far past sane, that he has wiped most of Obama's success in two years, and he got the judges and the court. You can't reason with an evil man, you need a lucid and aware public, so I fight on that front.

Opportunists. It would be easier to shine going against Obama than it would be going against Trump.
I get it to hold politicians to the fire to do things for the people, but it comes off as cherry picking. Although Tavis has his own problems right now to deal with. #MeToo has him down for the count, so anything he will try he'd get shut down.
