'When Harry Met Sally...' fake orgasm scene recreated by flash mob in NYC's Katz's Deli

Prank collective Improv Everywhere reenacted the classic Meg Ryan scene — with 20 women lending their voices — in a video that's going viral.

A flash mob from Improv Everywhere reinacted a certain famous scene from ‘When Hary Met Sally...’ at Katz's Deli in Manhattan. The video, uploaded Tuesday, has been going viral.

It's the iconic fake orgasm scene from "When Harry Met Sally..." — only twenty times as funny.

The prank collective Improv Everywhere released a new video Tuesday recreating the famous sequence from the 1989 romantic comedy in New York's Katz's Deli.

"It wasn't easy," said Improv Everywhere found Charlie Todd, who organized the covert June 23 stunt, which is part of the group's "Movies In Real Life" series.

"It was logistically difficult to maneuver to get 20 tables at Katz's. We did a little bit of research and figured out that around 8 or 9 p.m. on a Sunday night, it would be less crowded.
'It’s an honor to have a great scene,' a manager for the restaurant told the Daily News.

"It still took us probably an hour to get everyone in the right seat. We probably spent close to $1000 on deli food while we were waiting."

Todd told the Daily News that he and his crew used the type of small hand-held cameras that tourists would use so they wouldn't tip anyone off to their scheme.

The staffers at the iconic restaurant were not in on the gag, but it's evident from the video that it didn't take long for them to join in applauding and laughing with other patrons.

"People come in and do that scene all the time, particularly late at night, depending on how drunk they are," restaurant manager Kevin Albinder said.

It took an hour to maneuver the twenty volunteers into tables without the restaurant’s staff suspecting anything, says the group’s founder.

"But that's a first, to have a flash mob do it."

Todd said to make sure the sound of 20 women recreating Meg Ryan's famous fake orgasm scene funny and not offensive, they made sure there weren't young children eating at the restaurant at the time actress Ashley Ward kicked off the prank. He needed that many women, he explained, because the popular eatery — which boasts a sign pointing to the table where the actual scene was filmed — is so loud.

The staff at the iconic eatery were not in on the joke and can be seen on the video being surprised by the flash mob.

"It's really just a celebration of movies and iconic characters and scenes that everyone loves," he added.

"The people who just happen to be sitting in Katz's Deli at the right time seemed to enjoy it."

"Every day, someone is confused about the ticket system, without fail," says Jake Dell, the fifth-generation owner of Katz's Delicatessen.

On weekend afternoons, a line forms out the door with tourists, and during the late-night hours on weekends, the expansive dining room fills with people from bars, looking to fill up after night of drinking.

Every one of them has to hold onto their ticket, which serves as a receipt and record of how much they should pay before they go.

"It's pretty basic, every adult's given one on the way in and every adult's gotta give one going out," Dell says. "Part of the appeal of this place is the nostalgia, and the ticket helps you remember that."

"Out of every ten people who walk in, maybe one or two lose their ticket," Dell says, who explains in this video how to order like a regular at Katz's.

Katz’s Deli Says Brooklyn Outpost Just Weeks Away

World famous Katz's Deli sandwiches are served at Katz's Deli.
New York institution Katz’s Delicatessen is just weeks away from opening its first outpost in Brooklyn, the deli announced on social media this week.

The deli posted a photo of a flyer to social media reading in big, capital letters that “the wait is almost over.”

Katz’s has been a staple on Houston Street for generations but this will be the deli’s first time venturing out of Manhattan on its quest to deliver bulky corned beef and pastrami sandwiches to the hungry masses.

Katz’s was originally called Iceland Brothers when it opened on the Lower East Side in 1888. As the management changed, it became Iceland & Katz and finally Katz’s Delicatessen in 1910. Shortly thereafter it moved to its current location, where it has attracted New Yorkers, tourists and celebrities alike, including former President Bill Clinton and “Seinfeld” star Michael Richards.

The new outpost will be at the DeKalb Market Hall, a large food hall that is slated to open this spring at the City Point mega-development in downtown Brooklyn. Katz’s will add its kosher style fare to the market’s diverse array of food vendors that are offering up arepas, bánh mì, barbecue and more.

When the outpost opens in a few weeks, hungry Katz's fans should head to 1 Dekalb Ave. The flyer says the main entrances to the market will be on Albee Square West and Flatbush Avenue.

Best $30 I've ever spent? Quite possibly!
Just had an unforgettable meal at the legendary Katz's Delicatessen on the Lower East Side! Their Reuben with pastrami is hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted. This iconic NYC deli has been serving up classic Jewish fare since 1888, and stepping inside feels like a journey through time. The bustling energy, the historical photos on the walls, and that first bite of juicy pastrami—all of it makes for an authentic New York experience. If you're in the city, do yourself a favor and check this place out! No more GATEKEEPING y'all!
The world needs to know about this place!!

Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal reunite for ‘When Harry Met Sally’ Super Bowl ad — with surprise guest Sydney Sweeney

Thirty-six years later, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan have reunited for a “When Harry Met Sally” sequel — sort of.
The two are starring in a Hellmann’s mayonnaise commercial that will premiere during the Super Bowl and bring Harry and Sally back to Katz’s Deli, where the 1989 movie’s infamous “I’ll have what she’s having” scene was shot.
Delivering that iconic line this time? Sydney Sweeney.

“It smells exactly like it did 36 years ago when we made it,” Crystal, 75, said of the Lower East Side pastrami palace. “It was so much fun to be out there at the same table.”

In the 30-second ad, Ryan’s Sally becomes very enthusiastic about her turkey sandwich after adding a little mayo.
“What’s happening? Oh boy,” Crystal’s Harry character says in the commercial, while Ryan’s excitement escalates — imitating how she demonstrated faking an orgasm in the movie.
It didn’t take much to get back into character, Ryan, 63, told The Post.

“There was nothing weird about it — it didn’t feel like, ‘Woah surreal.’ We had … a whole room of people wanting to be in on the joke. That was really adorable,” she said.
Also adorable? Sweeney, who delivers the punchline first said by movie director Rob Reiner’s real-life mom, Estelle.
“I really had to hand it to [Sweeney]. She is game, and funny. Has terrific ideas. Not intimidated — respectful, silly and adorable. Beautiful. She was just great,” Ryan told The Post of meeting the “Euphoria” star for the first time on set.

“Working with legends like Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on this nostalgic and hilarious ad was such an honor,” Sweeney said in a statement, calling the movie “a rom-com classic.”
But Crystal, who lost his home in the Pacific Palisades wildfire earlier this month, admitted other Gen Z viewers might not get Harry’s Casanova ways.
“That [deli] scene is a comment on Harry’s dating style — [Sally is] upset with him … She’s offended and she teaches him a lesson in front of 200 people,” Crystal said. “He’s a complicated guy. He’s a complicated character who finally gets it right at the stroke of midnight.”

Getting back into character also brought back a wave of nostalgia for late co-star Carrie Fisher, who died in 2016 from cardiac arrest at age 60.
“I had a long friendship with Carrie. We were pregnant at the same time,” Ryan said of Fisher, who played Sally’s best friend Marie in the film.

Ryan and Crystal imagine their characters would still be living happily ever after today.

Ryan recalled calling up late co-star and dear friend Carrie Fisher (left), who played Sally’s best friend Marie in “When Harry Met Sally,” while she was in labor with her son, Jack Quaid, 32. WireImage
She recalled actually jumping on the phone with Fisher while giving birth to her son Jack Quaid, now 32 and an actor himself.
The two were “talking while I was delivering my son. I said, ‘This is what labor sounds like!’” Ryan told The Post.
What do you think? Post a comment.
And as beloved as “When Harry Met Sally” is to this day, Crystal told The Post he never understood why fans wanted a sequel.
“We felt, why? They worked so hard for 12 years to get to happily ever after that that’s where they should be,” Crystal, 76, said of the characters. “To me, they’re still together.”
