What's up with all these massive Youtubers dealing with depression?

well dude was seriously sick to the point he lost mad weight, had mysterious scars on his body, he couldn't consume food to the point his body kept making him puke out everything, he kept going to the hospital and they never could diagnose his illness, he got ghosted by a lot of fans for stealing some people routine, his bestfriend that was holding him down and taking care of him through this whole process suddenly died, that dude went through maddddd S hit within a 1 yr period... It's been a few yrs since I kept up with his current state but he made a whole vid talking about that shit
I guess I was being selfish as a fan of his content, but the reality is life hands all of us a lot of bad situations.

Alot of the black tech Youtubers need to quit or retire, it is depressing hearing them pander to white supremacists in every video by attacking me.

It is because of them and the constant propaganda, I have to use outlets like this to prevent a false narrative from being used against me. I have to come on here to post the truth. I am going to monitor the situation and lay in the background.

Maybe it’s the pressure to keep creating content and how time consuming and strenuous it is? :dunno:
Inevitably, those views and clicks start dipping, and they don't have a marketing team behind them like a corporation to get the buzz out...what do you do? Keep fishing in the same spot or move the boat to a place where there is still no guarantee of a big catch.

You think this is why some black people social media are flocking to the minstrel content like Candace Owens and Diamond and Silk?

Yes.

Just because you have money, your world isn’t perfect.

They created their jobs but I’m guessing their job isn’t only 8 hours a day and then they clock out. They have to create content, edit the content and there’s a constant pressure to be better and better as others around them want their spot and their subscribers.

Nah...brah.. these FOLKS...are JABRONI'S...GOD turns his back on these Gumps at the gate...I have no love for them either... fuck em...I'm out..brah

When this youtuber started getting depressed, hell I got depressed.
This Kat was funny and talented. :)

Now it's all sad shit

A lot of them know that the youtuber bubble will burst.

I'm not talking about the informative YouTube channels but the ones that focus on pranks and doing dumb attention whore shit.

Millions are good but if you're not investing your money or you're racking up high monthly living expenses you'll be broke a year after that bubble burst. I think these youtubers know that and are afraid.

To anyone who reads this, please dont take this the wrong way, I'm not bragging.

So...financially my family is set. My kids college educations are already paid for. If both my wife and I died they'd be rich. We both can retire now and just chill till we die.

That being the case, I decided to focus on publishing my comic books and now making movies.

Nobody works harder than me, and what I have to offer is just as good as or better than anything already out there.

I've had only minor success at this, and the New York Comicon was a disaster for my company. Ive sold THOUSANDS of books and made THOUSANDS of dollars at this, but my stuff still ain't well known.

This shit had me fucked up for awhile.

So one day I had to ask myself: nigga is you REALLY SERIOUSLY gonna be depressed over not succeeding ENOUGH?

That was all it took for me to be okay. I was being unrealistic and childish. I manned up and stopped that shit.

For these other folks, it ain't that easy. They either are psychologically predisposed to depression or dont have the coping mechanisms to deal with IMAGINARY metrics of success and failure.

So yeah, I'm still judging these folks, but with a little bit of understanding and compassion thrown in.

rant over. Back to looking at shiny brown big booty bishes.

Well let me become a millionaire FIRST then I can afford to go crazy and fall the fuck off. Until then I gotta stay focused on the day to day operation of doing business.

The need for attention and external validation is psychologically destroying a generation.

I’ve always contended that the status box and the ‘Like’ button on Facebook are the most generational altering things that’ve happened this century. People went from just doing their day to day in their small close knit circle to posting a few pics to telling everything they are thinking/doing/saying and where they are doing it at; constantly checking their phones for another dose of the validation morphine that are ‘likes’ and positive comments. ANYTHING negative or perceived to not be that good narcotic throws folks minds into a train wreck.

It’s sad, bad, and only going to get worse as the attention economy continues to expand.

It's kinda difficult because it's easy to say "you got money" but the money isn't really an issue, whatever you make you're going to have people who make a similar amount in your social circle.

These youtube dudes literally created their own little world, completely online and entertaining people they'll most likely never meet after while stress will get to them dudes and they'll get tired of acting usually.

A lot of them developmental and emotional issues due to the constant stress to keep entertaining, keep getting subscribers and keeping people checking back for their content. It's not as easy as it looks.

Then the bigger guys got outside contracts with other companies, camera crews, got people on the payroll and get tired of all the hassle so I can see why a break will help a few.

Working a regular 9-5 is one thing and making 6 figures a year but the online youtube hustle the big dudes get, the pressure to entertain + outside business interest and constantly being in front of the camera is tough.

Also, forget to mention the other side, you got the TED TALKS dudes talking about the need to quit the net, the need for attention, why Instagram is bad, why too much TV, INTERNET, YOUTUBE is bad is another aspect. So they do what they love but they face constant criticism. If dudes ain't getting laid the first people you blame is the Internet age and blah, blah.

A lot of pressure on them, Linus gets attacked for being garbage for years.... MKHD gets called a token constantly, Phonedog guy lost lot of people once others came up. One video pro-IPHONE and they get attacked.

I'm sorry man

All these dramatic theatrics and shit

I just can't supress my eye rolls

I have to agree man, no offense to dude but the self validation is a problem and I think the closed off world of the internet is a problem.

Honestly I feel message boards like BGOL is a problem but the fact I can get a movie or album makes it worth it.

But the closed off seperate world of youtube friends and strangers you never seen is a major issue that's making people anti social and depressed.

99% of the time its fake it till you make it
then you get typecast
then you think you're famous until you're around actual famous people and they think what you do is "cute"
then its not fulfilling because you can't transition to something else you're the "slime guy"
and enter depression

Some people have clinical depression. Some have unrealistic expectations. Could be combination of the two. :smh:

From the outside, folks might not understand. It can happen with anything. Folks who are successful at anything apply pressure to themselves. Sometimes, that pressure can become to be a bit much. But if they have an underlying condition, shit can get real in a hurry.

Watch the video and home ain't crazy, he's hurt. Sadly he's on the wrong platform for that...the majority of people gives a fuck about his pain...even his subscribers. They just want the jokes. It's kind of like a rapper like Yo Gotti or Jeezy...They put themselves in a box where if they change the content (dumb ass drug dealing) they will lose their fanbase. So basically they have to be drug dealers and gangsters for the rest of their career,,,cough Pusha-T

It’s always a combination of things. A person that is clinically depressed has also went through some type of trauma that when unchecked.

Richard Pryor, Michael Jackson, Rick James, and countless others were fucked after going so long without addressing there issues. As a matter of fact, their issues is what drove their success and untilmately their deaths.

We can’t have it all without giving up something elsewhere. And sometimes the mind is the first to go...

I feel this is the 4 ot 5th time I've seen these massive Youtubers with crazy followers and making millions say they are burnt out or wanting to quit their channels.

I can imagine that it's hard to walk away from something that you've worked so hard to build up, but I don't see why they can't sign off and take a Leave of Absence or go on a hiatus for their health.
This fame that they've garnered is not unlike any other addiction.

He talked about leaving. Trying to stay away and then his mind starts to think about some "firmware update" he needs to do (so most likely he'd do it on camera).

I agree with you. You own the company, So take a break and let your underlings handle the show while you walk away for a while. Only come back when you feel like it.

*and me, I'm different. If I was an online personality, I'm not making videos crying on screen for the world to see. Even if I have a web series or whatever, I don't owe you that. Not every aspect of my life is for public consumption. My trials and issues are for me and the people who actually love me. Not some fanbase.

strike while the iron is hot... That mindset is to keep going while you have the opportunity cause tomorrow you may not... A break can literally be the end of your run cause consumers are fickle... 1 day they standing in long lines for your product tomorrow they avoiding your company at all cost... Think clothes, toys, tech, food, entertainment, service, etc... That's how bizz is... What it is ya seeing it first hand through the genre of independent entertainers what goes on behind the scenes of part of the curse of success... People always want the gifts but don't know some of the curses and what it can do to some people

I agree with you and I recognize that but each of these folks have peaked or reached the pinnacle. They've made a lot in earnings and could at least afford to walk away for their own sanity if nothing else.
It may be just as hard to rebuild your brand, but at least you're of sound mind.

as I said early you become a perfectionist you also become very compulsive with your product that nothing else matters... You juss focus and motivated on the project... It can consume you to the point you don't realize how caught up you are on the product... If you never been in that situation it's hard to explain to people that never went through it... Like I said I have experience with that type of thinking and the poster buk said he also been through it... Diff is we come from a diff era and have stronger traits than these cacs and new dudes so we didn't fully have breakdowns..it no longer is about money but high expectations of yourself
