Linus from "Linus tech tips" one of the biggest tech Youtubers on the platform. Melts down and cries on screen.

I feel this is the 4 ot 5th time I've seen these massive Youtubers with crazy followers and making millions say they are burnt out or wanting to quit their channels.

Maybe I'm an asshole but I have a hard time feeling bad for people making millions when others are struggling and have no outlet to vent about it and have to keep pushing.

Oh I agree. You making millions doing something that people wish they could do (at your own pace with your own rules) and you sad? I get depression can strike anywhere and at anytime but...

I'm just noticing a trend on YouTube. Somebody check up on MKBHD.

You mean like having a regular job you have to show to every day? And if you fuck up at work you might lose your gig that pays you peanuts?

Yes.

Just because you have money, your world isn’t perfect.

They created their jobs but I’m guessing their job isn’t only 8 hours a day and then they clock out. They have to create content, edit the content and there’s a constant pressure to be better and better as others around them want their spot and their subscribers.

If they are making millions or even six figures, that means they have more than enough money to seek help for their mental issues.

I tend to wonder if these guys get scared because the Youtube bubble is always in danger of bursting. If it's not adpacolypse it's Coppa or something else.

Linus (from the first video) has a whole team of talent at his huge studio. He has editors and writers, he isn't a (one man team) he even has other talent that hosts the shows.

He even said in the video, he could die today and his wife would never have to work again and all 3 of his kids could pick the best colleges. He admits his life is amazing and money is no object.

If you're depressed, fall back from hosting your show (even more than he currently does) take a break. Fuck, hire a new host entirely and just become the desk jockey CEO, do a video once in a while if you feel like it.

Depression can hit anyone, but these guys can afford to literally take a year or two off to deal with their issues. A lot of folks can't afford to take one day off.

Exactly. Dude is a millionaire. He already got other hosts. Fall back and just vacation.

I too have a hard time feeling sorry for people making millions. I also understand the world is much more complicated than money.

These folks could be in bad relationships, ill of some disease, lost a close relative/friend to death, abused as a child, traumatize by some life event they couldn’t get over, or whatever else money can’t fix.

The one thing I have a hard time relating to is people that suffer from depression because I don’t suffer from it. So I struggle with being empathetic 100% of the time.

However, based on my observations of being around folks that do suffer from it, I see a pattern of creating negative emotional habits that seems to become addictive. Almost similar to being addicted to cigarettes.

That’s that pressure, a year or two off is millions lost and lost subscribers. The internet moves fast and if you aren’t currently churning out content you’re left behind.

Again. These aren't one man operations. The last guy Champ Chong is, the other two aren't. They have shows without them involved everyday

I think the combination of coming up with new content and the reality of all the negative comments that come with those millions of views. You will attract the vilest and most disgusting people along with your loyal followers. People say they focus on the positive, but how many celebs have we seen breakdown because of the trolls...Money don't fix all that. Negativity is strong...

Yeah. Good point in the first video (it's long) he mentions having a meltdown because he suggested a computer part that wasnt compatible with certain machines and people attacked him because he forgot to mention it.

The emotional reactions to negative “words” are strong. IMO, it’s no different than emotional responses to positive words. There differences lie with how ones views the world or their moral compass.

For example, look at how much SHIT LeBron James has dealt with over his NBA where everything he does was judged. On top of him trying to be a “good black man” for his family and being a national symbol. Yet, he seems to be mentally OK.

People can see the world in three different ways; Negative, Positive, and in-between. Most people want moral boundaries they can rely on to help them understand dealing with the world. Yet, we (particularly American society) sells happiness as something obtainable through certain success and not a state of mind.

His depression is over getting rejected

I need to slap that Falcons hat off this dudes head. Real depression is being up 21-3 on the Patriots in the 3rd quarter and losing to those assholes in over time. Get the fuck out of here with that crap.

As far as woman go, all the young man needs to do is hit on every nice looking woman he comes in contact with and one of them will like and or love his ass. It's that simple. Getting rejected is part of the game at his age. He must not have a pops at the house.

Rejection and failure triggers the same emotional response. They can create fears of the emtions that comes afterward.

I have students that are terrified of failing because they believe is means something about them. No different than a person that is being rejected by a certain person they are perusing.

I have connected that emotional response to the expectations that people create themselves and less about the failure or the person that rejected them. It’s good to have expectations because it gives you something to work towards, but some people have a very hard time with being honest about themselves. That lack of honesty leads to a false sense of reality in which the emotional response behind it can lead to depressive states if they can’t get over the emotions. That usually means they are stuck in a past moment because the feeling was that strong. Time moves forward and sometimes it’s best to move forward with it and leave the good and bad moments behind.

When I’m teaching algebra to my students, I use to say “just do this and that. It’s easy, you’re over thinking the problem.”

Then I realized what’s simple me is a major tribulation to others.

I use to work on Wall Street and also traveled around the world. The most loneliest despressed people are the Rich. Yeah they have nice cars and houses but the glamour wears off quickly.

That’s why they say it’s lonely at the top. Dealing with people that only want to use you and have a hidden agenda can make you depressed. Having Material things don’t mean shit after a while. The novelty wears off like after having a new iphone after 1 year of owning it.

Even in the United States with everyday Americans. You have Americans that are unhappy and stressed out and think they have problems. They really don’t

But when I go to 3rd world countries where people don’t have shit. They seem way more happy with life. While people in 1st countries are depressed and they don’t understand that they have a lot of freedom and opportunities that people in other countries would kill for and be in your shoes.

Biggie Said it best. More money more problems!

You sometimes become a perfectionist when you create content that you be more focus on the project than anything else... Making something great starts consuming your mind.. You want to entertain, inform, etc... Sometimes you become such a perfectionist that you start creating a standard that cannot be met... Any negative response makes you feel that you didn't accomplish your goals and you start caring more about all negative responses and how to correct them... I know what it's like to be that focus as a person who has entertained and also know a thing or 2 about creating content... If you are a compulsive person or have compulsive personality traits it prob can affect you more also if you have other issues as far S mental it prob can break you down... I understand and don't understand.. Than again I'm black so I have stronger traits that can stop me from going breakdown status and these are cacs and new generation nigs so they don't have the same strength to not mentally breakdown... Perfectionist, compulsive shit

We’ve complicated life in America. Basic living comes with so much additive stresses, which most of the time is what we create for ourselves.

A lot of this stuff we don’t really have to give a fuck about, but we do anyway because we’ve placed meaning on things.

You summed up my wife in one paragraph.

She’s a perfectionist, focuses too much on trying to fix the negative, which causes her to stress out. Very compulsive in being a perfectionist.

I use to be that way and I stopped giving a fuck about a lot of things.

Agreed

You honestly need a team. The stress of doing it yourself will kill you. The streamer Ninja took a day off and lost hundreds of followers. People's short attention span will be the death of you if you let it.

I’ve had this happen to my social media business page. I’ve took prolonged periods of time off because people sucks. Plus, I need to not have to be so obligated to something that isn’t going to always meet the needs of people.

At first, panicked, but eventually I didn’t care anymore. The people that likes my content will stay around. Ultimately, taking care of myself is more important than keeping followers.

When this youtuber started getting depressed, hell I got depressed.
This Kat was funny and talented. :)

Now it's all sad shit

well dude was seriously sick to the point he lost mad weight, had mysterious scars on his body, he couldn't consume food to the point his body kept making him puke out everything, he kept going to the hospital and they never could diagnose his illness, he got ghosted by a lot of fans for stealing some people routine, his bestfriend that was holding him down and taking care of him through this whole process suddenly died, that dude went through maddddd S hit within a 1 yr period... It's been a few yrs since I kept up with his current state but he made a whole vid talking about that shit
