What's the nicest thing you've done for a stranger?

yeah ive done that before.....but it was a white chick. she had her wallet sitting on top of the car and drove off.
of course it fell off and i picked it up. i was able to catch up wit her......and she thought i was following her.
bitch was doin like 90mph in a residential neighborhood......lol.
she pulled up into her driveway and i pulled in behind her......she's running to her front door and her husband is running out to meet her.
i get out the car and the husband realizes that he's too short to box with God,....so he's like....."whats going on?"
i show both of them the wallet that she dropped at the gas station and let em know i was trying to return it.
stupid bitch actually said she thought i was following her to rob her. :hmm:
i shoulda kept that fuckin wallet.
I woulda got out the car threw it at her and went about my business

On more than one occasion I've seen people drop money and told them to pick it up.
Gotten people construction jobs making prevailing wage and those who stuck with it got union books.
Helped brothers out of prison get careers and subsequently they never went back to prison.
Pulled over helped countless people with car troubles.
Bought food for the homeless while out grocery shopping.
Helped an elderly man who had fallen down and was confused in Oakland Park, Florida.
Taught a man how to operate and run a concrete truck knowing the manager would never hire him. Even gave him some cash off left over concrete I would sell at the days end.
My oldest son found a phone last summer and I called the owners mother from the contacts and got the phone back to the young man who'd lost it.
Once found a wallet with a green card and other forms of ID and took it to the address on the ID and gave it to them.
Me and friend once saw some white boys trying to get a fine drunk out her mind Black woman in their car and we intervened and got her on the train with us so she could get home. We were coming from Nells in 14th street in NYC in the early 90's.
You saved them at least $500 for the return of the green card.

Funny story:
We were in this dollar store buying small picture frames. At the checkout, this lady in front of us dropped a 10 spot, so I called her back to give it to, and this young cat behind us muttered, "Shiiit, I'da kept that!" I laughed and said that it wasn't mine to keep, and the clerk says, "Don't worry, baby, God's gon' bless you for that!", and youngblood said, "How do you know God wasn't blessing with that 10 for some other shit he did? I know you done done some other nice shit. You look like one of dem niggas that be going around doing nice shit!"

  • Struck up a conversation with an old woman in a diner. She told me her car was in the shop. I finished my meal and paid for hers on the way out the door.
  • Ran into a homeless guy downtown St. Louis. He told me he was hungry. I took him to the restaurant I was heading to and bought us both meals. Put $40 in his hand before I left.
  • Put $150 on Leonard Peltier's daughter's books while she was in prison up in South Dakota.

Back in my college day, this old Irish homeless guy walked into a luxury residential building I did concierge work for to warm himself up. It was probably 5 degrees or less at the time, so I let him stay by the door as it was overnight and no one was around. He and I struck a convo and he told me about his glory days in the streets as a tough bare knuckles type who was respected, feared, and known. We had a few good laughs and talked about boxing and fighting. I ended up giving him a coat I was VERY fond of so that he may keep warm. I ended up going home with a old janitor's coat I found in storage later that mornring. Some homeless men have very interesting life stories...

Bought a 'homeless' guy something to eat about 4 days ago...had a cellphone, Jordan's, fresh haircut, starched clothes. Didn't really care if he was lying or not, it was my good deed for that day.

Pay for a couple nights at a hotel for a woman and her kids after seeing they were on the streets.

Was talking to this guy in Krogers not knowing his story, come to find out he had just gotten out of prison and he said he was looking for work and ironically another friend was looking for help. I called my friend at that moment, they talked and he left Krogers to go meet my friend right then. Still works for him now, it's been two years ago. Haven't seen the guy since that day but I know he's still there.

One of my daughters friend was giving her mom trouble, they were about 13. Her parents were an interracial separated couple and she was having a hard time identifying with herself. I said let me take her for the summer, had zero problems out of her. She starting going to church with us and to this day says I helped her change her life for the better. She's a really great respectful person and will call me before her mom if she's in a crisis.

Besides that I'm always buying food, clothes, giving gas or whatever if I know someone is in need. At times I really don't like being a giver, but it's who I am.

done so much, but every week i tried to atleast give money to a homeless person

Bought food for the homeless while out grocery shopping.

I give 20 dollar bills to bums on the street regularly :dunno:

Took 2 homeless brothers out for dinner. They were squeegee'ing car windows at a busy intersection for spare change. They were very appreciative and opened up about their battles with addiction and severe abuse at home that led them to run away. Encouraged them to pursue assistance and support-type services for youth/family. Hit home as I was just a bit older at the time.

All the random acts of kindness bring me back to the question of "Is private charity effective?"

Of course, giving a dollar to a homeless person is great and better than ignoring that person. Giving $100 is even better. But let us not fall into the trap of believing that charity is the answer or even comes close to approaching it.

Homelessness shouldn't exist. If you're not fighting homelessness on a systemic level, your little handouts aren't doing enough to help.

I've given money to people on the streets, too. And I am not insinuating that any of the people I quoted were saying that giving money to people on the streets is all that they do and that it is doing enough. Everything I quoted is great and I applaud it.

I just know that sometimes that kind of thinking can lead to this:

This. With president petty in office, now more than ever we should look out for one another.

Right now, they are trying to take about $6 billion out of Housing and Urban Development. We have to understand that private charity is like prescribing aspirin for AIDS. We should be guarded against being satisfied for that and searching for ways to have a real impact.

I can't. I run a law practice. I'm already responsible for people. Raising a teenager. Looking for a weekend home in the Caribbean. I won't even get a dog because I don't want the responsibility. I applaud those that can and do.

I think it should be considered more seriously as an alternative to having kids. We should all incorporate the fact that there are kids in need right now into our thought process regarding bringing new kids into this world.

Of course it would to you but all heterosexuals knew what I meant... that was another act of kindness I just did. I acknowledged your raging homosexuality without judging you. You're still awesome in your own way.

I've made deliveries, just never have handed out!

You don't envision the OP approaching people on the sidewalk with bags of prepackaged dick?

Don't dig any deeper...no closet can hold him now.
Told you uncle chuck

There was this elderly lady that lived a block or so down the street from me. She had a little Yorkie that I always used to see her walking.

One night it was raining like a muthafucka and I came home from work and saw the little yorkie running around the parking lot by herself dragging her leash, just barking like a muthafuka. I grabbed the dog and the leash and start walking towards the old ladys house, but something was off. I get to the lady's house and the door is wide fuckin open, at 10:00 at night, in a fuckin monsoon!

I'm like 'Aw hell naw, I ain't goin in there. I done sent this movie. Fuck. That.'

Dog yappin. Rain fallin. Nigga just wanna watch this fuckin blockbuster movie and chill. Abort! But no.

So, I walk up to the house, with the yappin ass dog, and approach the door. It's dark as fuck. I can't see shit. My first instinct was to throw the dog in the house, slam the door, and run the fuck away. But no.

I walk into this bitch house.....!!!!! Dog barking up a storm now. I can't hear shit but rain and barking. But I didn't make it two, maybe three steps onto the crib until I saw yhe old lady laying on the living room couch. Passed out like she had just smoked a blunt and drank a fifth of the best Cognac at the same damn time. Wasn't a murder scene. Wasn't some off the wall shit. She had just had too much to drink/smoke and left the door open and the dog ran free while she was unconcious.

I acknowledged her gangsta, yanked the yapping ass dog out of the house, closed the door behind me, and took the dog home with me, where my girl promptly asked me where the fuck did I get a dog from. "Petsmart bitch, now go make us some tacos!"

So, the next day, after I done bust about 3-4 nuts, made a$1 million on the stock market, and made my morning post on BGOL to document it all, Me and the dog go out for a walk before I take her back to the old lady. As we approach the ladies crib I see all these cars parked out front. Not really giving a fuck and wanting to be done with this bullshit I take the dog up to the lady's door anyway.

So before I knock on the door, a younger lady (looks like the lady's daughter or niece) appears at the door and was like 'oooooohhhhh, dooogggie(i can't remember the name) so happy you're safe!!'

So now, this house that only had one person living there all of a sudden had 5-6 people in the doorway looking at me funny. I see the old lady right behind them.

The younger lady asks me 'Where did you find the dog?'

I got two choices. Tell the girl that her dear ol mom/aunt is a drunk/junkie and left her door wide open for robbers and dog escapes, or lie.

Fuck that.

'Well ma'am, your mother/aunt let me keep the dog overnight, I was thinking of getting one'.

Everybody knew I was fuckin lying. But the old lady gave me that nod. I'll never forget that nod.

A drunk college kid was passed out on the train. The cops were about to drag him to the tank. I walked and yelled "oh my god Ricky, there you are!" I put on my biggest nicest smile and explained to the officers how we were all out drinking and this crazy sonofabitch wandered off from the group. We lived on the same floor so I promised to get him home safely. The cops agreed and left at the next stop.

In reality I had never met the guy before in my life. Fortunately he was lucid enough to play along.

Another time I saw a homeless woman collapse in a busy intetsection. I blocked traffic and called an ambulance for her.

Final time was at a Mission street bar and this joker was high as shit creeping out this chick who looked like she was about to mace him. I pulled him aside and bought him a beer just to get him out of the way. Once he started that creepy shit on me though I had to uppercut him. Fortunately the bouncer saw everything go down and let me leave without calling the cops.

Always doing some nice shyt, keep it on the low, don't like attention, hardly ever mention my name.....

I pay for the car behind me whenever I go through a drive through all the time.

I was at an NFL game a few years back and saw a BRAND NEW iPhone on the ground in the parking lot next to my truck. It just so happened that the phone wasn't password protected. So I went directly to the favorites and looked for "husband, wife, or my love etc". It was a guy so I called "wife". She answered and I told her that I found her husbands phone in the parking lot. She told me he was at the game with his best friend and she gave me his best friends number. So I called his best friend and told him I had his friends phone. So we ended up meeting at a concourse during the first quarter so he could get his phone. He thanked me with a smile and offered to buy me a beer. I declined and shook his hand and we parted ways.

I thought of one...I gave a semi-mentally challenged chic a ride to the laundromat once

when I saw her I didn't realize she may have been that way...I just saw her body and her struggling to push her laundry cart...this was about 13 yrs back...so I stopped and offered her a ride...she said "thank you" loud as fuck...voice kinda slow...that's when I realized she may have been a tad bit special...I felt bad cuz I was tryna pick her up initially but ended up doing the right thing...she was thick as fuck tho...damn near bursting out her pants so I still gave her my # and we remained friends 3 more times after that

What is 3 more times?

I was on Cascade Road when I saw this young homeless brother eating out of the garbage. He was looking for the food wrappers and licking them. It disturbed me just watching it as I began to pump my gas. I gave him all the cash in my pocket and told him you have enough money to get to the shelter by Centennial Park. I felt so terrible that a black brother so young was eating out of the trash like that.

I've seen this before too and went and bought the guy some food. Really hurt my heart.

Was at the west end, directed this cac to some greasy chicken I threw away.....he prolly got the bubblies.....

I never give cash to anyone but...
- feed homeless folks all the time..actually sit and eat with them
- returned at least 10 cell phones to the owners, actually drive it to them
- put up 3 unconnected females at different times on different occasions. they were stranded at the airport. Wouldn't do that today. They were grateful and tried to stay in touch but I'm not the stay in touch type.
- change tires for random people over the years...only women though
- three kids tried to beg me one day. Their story was sketchy but I made them make a grocery list and took it to where they said they lived. They were there. Said their moms was sick in the hospital but they were going to school still. Still suspicious but I did it.
