What would you do with 70 acres of undeveloped land?

And when you pass, the kids would sell the shit out of it.

My great grandmother passed 48 acres to her children. Only 24 is left today.

I got 8 of my own, but that mess is in the deep boonies and I can't deal living that deep in the country anymore.
It's funny how country folk wanna get to the city & city folk wanna move to the country

I wouldn't sell, I would want the best of both worlds.

I would love to see what it's like to have so much between me & the nearest human being, be able to shoot a gun and nobody hear it, ride 4 wheelers etc

good ideas in this thread but do people know website or infor on off the grid living , solar powering, water system etc

on the farming side checking out urban farming magazine you can find the mag at barnes n nobel or just google it.

lots of great insight, thank you fellas.

Keep the party going.

As far as the questions, it's rural ass obscure county in ms. Highway adjacent, but not really close to any heavily populated areas.

I've considered leasing for hunting.

I ain't trying to live on that shit and the less hands on the better, although i'd be hands on af if the profitability factor was right.

brother im from ga. I been planning a move like this for years upon my retirement. Now i even got a trustworthy family member thinking about it. I plan on raising sheep and goats to start. They are easy to manage.
But yeah i got some off the grid people you can talk to and follow. Check the laws where ever you move bc people are cracking down of self sustaining off the grid living bc they want you to be dependent on the system.so they can monitor your ass. Thats why they put out all the new power meters.
Think im lying....check the cases in fl (off grid community told they must connect to grid) , al-vet returns home and decides tobe off grid-told to connect to grid and now he is in jail trying to fight this crap, or where they fined a guy for having 3 pond on his property and stated that he was taking more than his fair share of the runn off...know whats going on with your land.

After a while is just becomes pointless, especially if you don't have a bunch of kids to help hold down that land.

It is awesome to to do whatever you want to do.

I remember how we use to go kill a hog and cook that mutha fucka all night long. The next day we would have a family get together where the kids would play outside all day, the old folks would sit in the house and the adults in their prime would be grilling.

We use to make homemade ice cream and throw horseshoes all day. When it got night time we would shoot fireworks like no other. Good country times, man. I miss it, but I just can't deal with all the land maintenance anymore.

At the same time I cant live in a city. Right now I stay right outside a city in a rural area. Got good space between my neighbors.

Neshoba County

A cursory look into this has not turned up anything as high-yield as I had hoped for, but I need to do some more research.

We got a few small businesses that is producing solar powered energy and selling it in NC. Duke Power is trying to put a stronghold on the market, but they are having a hard time trying to axe these companies because the panels are on private property.

With 70 acres, I would definitely try and find a why to bring a business down there and lease the land. Minus whale collect on the residuals.

This is wild. They MAKE you have a power meter?

Even if you have solar power?

Research whatever U want to do thoroughly. Farming can be profitable but U will need to pump in some money for a while before the returns start to come in. Make sure U have enuf money to pump in....and it is hard work be prepared for that or buy the machinery to make it easy...another cost.
