I tried to warn a few members about the "female bashing" on this side, no matter how subtle or unsubtle, but it continued to find a way to discourage women from being open, and that sent a signal to all the women who where lurking at that time.

There was a disconnect between leadership, and I'm talking way before Onyx. And truth be told, the women never ever really "ran" this side either, nominally of course, but in reality the men made most of the threads and determined the now present culture that persist here.

In my personal experience. It seems that women and especially black women don't seem too interested in posting on forums especially sex forums (with the exception being Nude Africa) unless it's about the church, hair, and their children.

I don't know what happened but i feel like hnic drop the ball on this one.
He had a very rare audience of black women, that posted on a porn board and was just like the male posters in that they had multiple interest and was completely comfortable with their sexuality.

If sol would have had better protection. it would sti be alive and kickin' and we'd have many more women posting.

Sol is "supposed" to be female run, operated, and policed. I get what you are saying about BGOL main board but Sol is supposed to be different. There isn't supposed to be belligerent assholes following posters around causing trouble for the sake of starting shit here.

SOL was IMO flawed in the beginning because it was based on the idea that the women were lurking because they didn't feel welcome on the main board. When in reality. most of them were lurking because they had nothing to say. The main female posters of SOL from day 1 were women that posted on the main board somewhat frequently. That said...

There's no way he could've banned mentioning of SOL on the main board. In actuality, it WAS pretty insulated from the main board in the beginning. And it was tighly moderated at the beginning. Honestly, I think that all the women that were going to post on this side (at the beginning) did so and those that lurked...lurked. SOL didn't need protection, it needed more than just the 20 ladies that posted here regularly.

It's hard to get women to post especially on a porn board. The word of mouth of this site is kind of...null and void, so there goes your growth. The odds of a woman stumbling on this site has greatly depreciated with the emergence of other sites. So there goes some growth there.

A lot of the "change in atmosphere" is seemingly placed on the men and/or the main board, but the women have had their hand in that as well.

Mods need to not post too much personal info and opinions on members behavior out in public.
And they need to stick to the posted rules and mod evenly.
One poster can't act out and cause a scene and not catch a ban in one thread while the next gets banned in another . Same thing for the mods behavior. Mods aren't suppose to flip out and cause drama. They're the peace keepers.

I'm not gonna place blame all on the main board but alot of the abuse that caused the ladies to turn tail came from that part. lol I could list some but I don't wanna ressurect any of those threads.

Yeah, it wasn't too bad on the other side in the beginning, maybe right around January, it got bad. You gotta remember, the board was having database errors three times a day and people were wondering why HNIC was trying to expand when his homebase wasn't working correctly. But I remember the threads. Personally, I don't think they contributed as heavily to the lack of ladies' posting that you think. Honestly, I think those threads served to rally the women of SOL and made them grow closer.

And you're right about the banning, but I think you're asking too much of HNIC (from what I can see). And I think an all out ban prolly would've made it worse.

Then again, it's all hindsight. Hard to say what can be done to move forward.

We've done the contests before. The downfall of SOL and XAT chat can be tied to one mod and one mod only... DA CON!!! Some people got a short-term memory, but it's clear as day. Talking shit and banning people on this side. Totally changed the mood of things. And then when the TRUE mods of SOL let things slide, it was a wrap... But it's cool on this side, some decent threads every once in a while... All good things must come to an end.

Pogo I hear you, but in the beginning SOL WAS WORKING in large part due to a more chill and respectful rapport that existed between the male and female posters on this side. Men far outweigh the number of women so some male support was necessary. The male posters that used to post here predominately just wanted to joke, converse, and see some candid titty and ass shots once in a while and that was cool!

The negative attention to posting pictures (spurred imo by that QUAID incident), the male and female bashing and the demise of the xat because of a snitchin' main board member were huge blows to SOL.

There are some serious boundary issues. Posting pm and pics someone sent you in private, bringing beef from the chat or the main board into threads, letting some shit that didn't even start on the board become an invitation to troll and call everybody 3 types of fat whore on SOL is ridiculous. Shit gets real tired, especially when visiting here is supposed to be about entertainment!

c/s Owl and Iron. I don't envy any mods here because this place is like no other board I have seen. Other boards the mods work quietly and their actions are balanced and final. On other boards the mods don't seem to post as often (or post flame under a different name ) and frankly that's probably a good thing, because it cuts off a lot of cliquish behavior, bias, and personal attacks.

To bring it back that rapport I mentioned will have to be re-built. Cleo gave some great suggestions to start.
