Honestly, I have no complaints about 'black men'. I do however have some complaints about individuals that can be classified as black men. But then again I can say this about any person, of any gender, and any race. Why take up your problems with the majority when you are only scorned with that one minority?

There are some 'groups' that for me debunk this theory though.

Those of a certain zodiac sign
Those of a certain social organization
And those who do something specific when in conversation

I personally, think what you said is indicative of ALL MEN, not just black men. I also think that my and SOME other brothas on BGOL and their statements aren't just directed at black women.

So don't always take what we say as being directed to black women in general. Shit, I tend to stay out of those threads myself. I would have probably stayed out of this one as well if it were initially titled with Black Men....

On the contrary, I think we don't do all of the generalizing on this side that the "guys" do on the other side... we do a lot of praising over here. sometimes unnecessary praising. But definitely there is more speaking from experience over here compared to the main forum

I don't think anyone who has been here REALLY thinks that this forum is like that. They just ASSume that it is like, say, Lipstick Alley, full of bitter Black women hating on men. BGOL rarely mentions SOL only when a) someone posts a celeb gossip topic and someone tells them (or posts a pic )to take it to SOL (basically because men shouldn't be worried about celeb gossip) or b) if/when a female gets overly emotional and/or says things that are really stupid.

Now, is that second part fair? Not really, but that is an unfortunate consequence when HNIC set out the line of demarcation between BGOL and SOL. Before SOL, you didn't see that.

its a pretty good book i just got done reading it a few days ago

its basically the convo my dad had with me once i became dating age...nothing earth shattering

but if a woman didnt have a father in her life or have that talk with another influential man in her life the information is invaluable

i say its good info to know...even if u heard it before

I have not read it but it's also good to have a close male friend or a brother that will give u some good advice from the male view. I give my sis advice from time to time when she needs it. No disrepect to your dad but some things have changed, guys or evolving all the time.

Each situation is different and i have not read the book but i'm pretty sure he didn't catch everything. The best thing that y'all have is this board and the guys that respond to ur post. Some will not answer the questions from their heart but if they answer it as if it were their lil sis they were talking to, then you'll get some good advice.

implying that my father's advice (and subsequently steve harvey's advice) might be outdated
