The republicans are very adept are manipulating the national conversation. I recently called a local Black conservative radio talk show, or should I say the only Black conservative radio talk show in Atlanta. Shelly Wynter who’s afternoon AM drive time spot’s purpose is to try and get as many Black listeners to at least question everything Democratic, while at the same time justify anything Republican.
The host was on his daily rant to disparage Black people, particularly southern Black folk. This time lambasting those that have not already committed to overtly supporting Barack Obama. Wynter claims to be a staunch right wing, card carrying, red meat republican, yet he is supporting Obama, even though on many occasions he has said Obama and Hillary are socialists. His hot button issue, like most of today’s republicans is the discrediting of the Clintons. Several callers had questioned his sincerity of support for Obama. Why would a self proclaimed Black right wing republican (in fact he calls his show “The Right Side”) support a candidate that he has labeled as liberal for the democratic nomination for president of the United States? One caller asked him “why do you hate Hillary?” He answered back, in the typical confrontational fast talking right wing talk show host fashion as he stammered for a quick answer, "she would give away our secrets.” He never said what secrets. At that point I decided to make my first call to his show to follow up on that question. About 30 minutes later I called the station and asked him what he meant by “secrets”. Again he quickly stammered for an answer to my question and blurted out, “they would give our nuclear secrets to India.” I said the Bush administration has recently committed to giving India American nuclear energy technology against the congress’s wishes. He said that “India got the Atomic bomb technology from the United States under the Clinton administration”. I corrected him and said that India had developed their Atomic bomb technology using Soviet technology in the 1970s in response to the United State’s support of Pakistan, India’s historic enemy. He continued to argue inaccurate information, which he clearly realized that he was not sure of his facts. When he could no longer bluff his way out of the argument and talking became futile, he quickly said, “we lost him”. I said I was still there and the line was cut. I turn the radio back up, as I did not want to become confused with the 10 second delay radio stations use and caught the last few seconds of my conversation with him. I heard, “his gone, just like those liberals running away when they can’t make their point.” I was flabbergasted! I just got manipulated! Incredulous, I thought I was going call the radio station again to find out what that was all about. I got thru to the screener and asked if he was an intern, he asked, why? I said because sometimes interns are partisans for the talk show host. I told him that his radio station had lost any semblance of credibility, as they claim to be serving the community and he said hold on. I hung up. I understand an individual’s partisanship if their world view is formed though debate and logic. But when you stifle the debate with wanton ignorance, then my respect for your point of view ends right there! Though all of this, I still hadn’t gotten an answer why republicans hate Hillary. Please, republicans, why do you hate Hillary. I am beginning to think you don’t have reason of your own and you get plugged up to the RNC thought machine every morning and get uploaded with GOP marching orders.
