I've spoken to someone else regarding African history and stories, and one of the points made in that violence in our communities panel from BET/TD Jakes was that our history didn't start with slavery, so this has interested me but I haven't pursued it. Have you already posted content on here about this topic or suggested reading? I downloaded the yuguru book you and Billz suggested, but I haven't read it yet. I'd be interested in any resources you have.
We will continue discussing this book in the new year...which begins Dec. 25th when we renew our spiritual selves. (not some white jesus)
btw gametheory has always looked down on Africans-in-America. Pay him no attention. Notice the first couple of sentences in his original post seek to separate Africans born and raised certain places as if Africans on the continent aren't praising white jesus and kissing the popes hand. Again, pay him no attention. Instead, please focus on the purpose of kaya's thread which is to revive and renew that part of us that makes us us. That is...that we are African first and foremost.

Thanx. I saw some of the threads bumped recently that Billz did previously, but I haven't even started the book.
Someone else had the same observation regarding GT as you have, which is common amongst Africans in my experience, so it's not unexpected. I'm Christian and am, and plan to continue to be, very fond of my "white" Jesus. I'm not sure exactly what yuguru encompasses, but I have no problem and see no conflict in studying other spiritual principles. I look forward to reading more info.

We must Always remind ourselves we are the dominate race and people on this earth
They want us to esteem their dichotomy of African/African American
so much, that you can readily see it when they are confronted
with it. Liberal white are more affective in this area. Listen
to how they use the term African American, as if it is a
hypocorism to African.
In their minds, the halcyon days were when they could dictate
such manner of thinking and project it as it is true.
This is a natural consequence to the Information Age.
The lies they told and subliminally uphold are unravelling
before their very eyes.
You're too short to dominate shit.
Sit on the sidelines and let the niggas over 5'2" spoon feed you, Skippy.
As long as we fail to connect to Africa before we as Africans landed on these shores, our accomplishments and sense of pride that informs our worldview will always be subjected to the will of white people.
