What advice would you give to someone who wants to learn about American politics? What types of media sources should seek which ones should they avoid, and why?

In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to keep track of the shifting political landscape in order to learn what's happening, why it's happening, and how it affects you. Politics is an extremely intriguing subject, but finding a source of information that you can trust to tell you the truth can be difficult. The best course of action is to read all views and get a good overall picture of politics. To begin learning about politics, you will want to gain a basic knowledge of politics in general

Politics is about governmental and social power and how decisions are made. Because our country is governed by two parties, you will next want to check out the websites of the Republican and Democratic parties. This will give you helpful information and a fast education in how U.S. politics is divided. Then you might want to check out the smaller third parties such as the Libertarian Party. You can easily browse the headlines and find articles you are most interested in. For further learning about politics, I would then recommend delving into the wide world of political blogs. I read a variety of blogs and message boards on the internet. They will help you learn about politics in a deeper way than just reading news stories. The best way to stay abreast of current events is to watch a non-biased news station every night and skim through the political sections of weekly magazines like Time, Newsweek and US News & World Report.<O:p</O:p

Learn history. Many politicians and talking heads try to rewrite history. Revisionism is their only argument.

Read books. Read historical records. Everyone has an opinion, but the facts speak for themselves.

Don't avoid anything. Somewhere between the left and the right, the truth exists.

The key is to get all the information you...Noam Chomsky supposedly reads like hundreds of newspapers but to me its simply critical analysis of all the info you can take...Which is the best determining factor in politics and understanding American Politics...I read Chomsky and Zinn but also I read Angela Davis, Dyson, Cornell West so I'd stay absorb all the channels you can.....

Avoid the left and the right. Far away from both the actual truth exist.

Both want to limit everyone in some way. No one should limit your actions as long as you aren't hurting someone else.

The answer is political freedom, not conservative nannyism or liberal nannyism.

Good advice. But,
No one should limit your actions as long as you aren't hurting someone else.
is interesting.

Who determines when one person's actions are hurting another? - the hurtor or the hurtee ??? Must there be agreement between the supposed hurtor and hurtee that hurt is occuring ??? What happens when they disagree ??? Who ultimately decides ???
