What do you consider a decent salary for a grown man @ 36?

I agree, you can flip the money. But thing is, outside our professions, most of us dont know the market to well to be fucking around, so why not take your 50-75k and continue stacking? In either of our scenarios they are better off than most americas population(who is in debt) wouldnt you agree? I dont think its saving for the heck of it, its saving so you can do what you want and if something goes wrong(car breaks) you aint worried bout shit.

That still would be considered Poor Man's thinking because of the unwilling zeal to put forth the effort to learn it. Or hire a broker or someone that does have the knowledge.

Look at it this way, you just lost $50k and your bank account numbers remain the same amount as your saftey net.

Not to go to far in the bible, but there is a parable that fits perfectly here,................................

Matthew 25: 15-30

Mat 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

Mat 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made [them] other five talents.

Mat 25:17 And likewise he that [had received] two, he also gained other two.

Mat 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

Mat 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

Mat 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Mat 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

Mat 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

Mat 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, [there] thou hast [that is] thine.

Mat 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, [Thou] wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

Mat 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and [then] at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

Mat 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give [it] unto him which hath ten talents.

Mat 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Mat 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Yes there are not but a handful of jobs where you can expect to make $100K coming out with ZERO experience. Kids in college are delusional about starting salaries.

Last year I went to the University of Georgia career fair to recruit for my company and department. Keep in mind that the fresh out of college starting salary in my department is in the $38K-$42K range. I was collecting resumes and talking to the students about the company job etc. I asked the students what they were looking for as far as salary........I kept hearing $60K+

I asked a few of them....
How do you think you justify a $60K start salary and you know nothing about how to do the job....... when we pay that salary after somebody has learned the job and been employed for 5 years.

When I graduated from college, my starting salary was equal to four years college tuition (True, I graduated from an Ivy League school. That just means the tuition was higher).

If that had been the case when my daughter graduated, she would have started out at $120k. The price of a college education has inflated beyond reason, and expectations have inflated in lock step. :smh:

Especially these mofo's who get dual degrees such as English and Politcal Science put together. WTF do these people think they're going to do with all that book knowledge. Its all about Math, Science, and Technology. Thats where the money is .

Wow 3 pages on nobody has called billy out on his bullshit.:smh:

I agree FULLY with others who've noted it's NOT what you make, but what you SAVE.

I went to high school with kids who would go away in the summer and work up at the mills and shit out of town and make $10K in 2 months after taxes during their summer vacations (at ages 16/17). Crazy.

I've gone to school with people who are really struggling right now.

Others have gone on to do big things and are pullin' coin.

Me ... I just live within my means and work like a son of a you know what.

Be smart with your money. Whether you're making 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, or 100 + k. It doesn't matter. Just do you, be happy with your job(s), hustle smartly, live legitimately, spend time with family and friends and tell the haters to suck on a pair of crusty old nipples.

IMHO its how much you can save while living comfortably.

I think 10-15 k a year saved in CASH, is the bottom line.

Dont care if you can do it on 35k a year or 100k, if you cant end the year saving 10-15k in cash you doing something wrong IMHO.

Most americans mismanage their money, they "keep up with joneses". Get paid more, they get a bigger house and a bigger car not. :smh: :smh: :smh:

If americans followed the 10-15k rule there would be no fucking problems. The fact is most americans dont have access to more than 2k in cash. :smh: :smh: :smh:

Cats making 100k are just as dependent on their job as cats making 35k. Paycheck to paycheck no matter how large. :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: I seen many cats at 100k getting foreclosed on when shit hits th fan.

I agree with most of this but 10-15K a year is a tall order. In order to put away that kind of cheese you'd have to scale all the way back or get one hell of a raise and not touch it.

I've been able to do the 10-15k a year in savings, and I'm fairly young(26). The key for me is having a reliable car (paid off),only buy what I need (I wear clothes out), pack my lunches (NYC lunch is expensive!), and no debts. I haven't used my credit card in over 2 years. I always have enough money saved to purchase what I want, in full and almost all my bills are on auto-payment. It's all about your lifestyle, I live alone, single, no kids, and I'm just plain simple.

Master Plan: Keep stacking and buy land and condos in DR, retire early.

Keep Doin Ur Thing Fam Nothin But Encouragement Over Here For U.just Keep Tryin To Exercise Ur Right To Life ,liberty And The Pursuit Of Happiness.......

It all depends on the standard of living you want to achieve and what expenses you have. If your single guy making 45k your cool. But if your a husband proivding for a wife and 2.5 kids. I'd say at least from 60k-100k would be the right amount of money a man at 36 should be making.

No matter how much people make they allways want more. lol @ "only 45k". Everybody's different and their definition of "success" is gonna be different. Seems like you tryin to get wealthy from a job and that's not likely. Need to invest. Live at 30k a year and save 15 and invest it.

Damn, hard to put it any better than this.

What are u saying? This is BGOL bro....I got 2 Phds. I am a lawyer at a top firm and a heart surgeon. I only pull dimes and have always only pulled dimes. I got my regular house and my vacation house in the caribbean. I am about to get a mansion in Italy in a few months. I also am into real estate. I pull in about 25 mil a year:rolleyes:

I am also only 25 and grew up in the hood.

:lol::lol::lol:

I make 50,000 in the DMV, My wife makes 36,000. Its still not enough.:smh: Im 36 ill be 37 in November. Im making about 18 per hr. I make 10 in overtime a week. The economy is affecting my raises because my company in trying to say money so we wont have layoffs. If the old raise scale was in effect in would be making 60,000. My mother told me to make more than your age but im starting to catch up to my salary.

Hanging with niggas don't play the bills/ being broke at 30 gives a nigga the chills :hmm:

I live in Bufalo and make $36k myself. I know cats gonna try to clown but, at the age of 26 I bought my first house. Its really where your at and how much can make you comfortable. Like I said earlier, its what you save not what you make.

My brother from LIU! They still got houses out in Buffalo for 10k near the colleges?

Alot of it also depends upon how you SPEND what you have. Or more accurantely ... how you SAVE WHAT YOU EARN, and where the rest of your money goes.

Most of my friends/associates drive better cars (leased), wear better clothes, rent or live with fam' & drink 1 - 2 $4 coffees a day.

I would rather drive an economical car / clip a few coupons here and there / own my residence / spend within my means / save alot / work additional hours / actually OWN shit / make my own coffees at work

Outside of NY and LA, I dont know wtf these cats are doing with their money. I know in NY cats are paying 1500 for shit you can get in ohio for 5-6. :smh: :smh: :smh:

Here, you can't get nothing for $5 or $6 hundred per month in the west suburbs of Chicago. It's expensive as hell.

How does one get promoted to an entry level position. :hmm: Anyways 45g is good anywhere except New York and San Fran area. It depends on your education and past experience. At 45 g you make only 3 thousand less than the average American household.

45K is garbage out here in San Diego and LA too. You'd live like 28 year old.

Damn your situation is almost identical to mine bruh, I'm in MD too...Except I'm 34 and will be 35 in December and my wife makes about 40,000...

I'm a warehouse manager and I was making 60,000/yr back in 06'/07' then the housing bubble burst(I'm in the kitchen and bath industry) and we had massive layoffs, paycuts, wage freeze's, no overtime, etc and that shit has cut me back to around 40,000/yr and it is rough...

Here ... renters mostly pay $500 - 1100. My dad was telling me the daughter of a friend of his just bought her first place with her husband. They are 34yo. Teachers. Paid x amount for their place ... and mortgage is $1400 a month. They are RENTING THE BASEMENT OF THE HOUSE FOR $1300 a month ... and it isn't big either ... but it's in a "ritzy" area of town ...

:eek::puke:

there are a lot of jobs that can put you in the 100k range without college education

Preach Don, I'm no degree and in the higher 6 figure range, doing Dod contracting. its just like anything else in life, if you say you cant find something or its sooo hard to blah blah blah then it will be, if you say it wont be easy but im going to get it anyway then thats how it will be.

My $$$ goes up and down since these are contracts but still even @ home im a 6 figure earner and just starting to plan out my degree since it wont really up my pay but it will make me more marketable for the jobs i want

Whatever is the best you can make is a decent salary if that actually matters to you. Everyone is different and has different priorities. As long as you are good that is all that matters.

I'm more  by what kind of job some grown ass men have. Whenever I see a grown ass man working in Baskin Robbins and it aint a second career, I'm . Even worse when he is delivering groceries!:eek:

I make about 80K
My girl makes about 55K

A Ninja is still grinding. My girl has her student loans, I'm trying to get a promotion, but there is a "freeze" in the industry.

I need to go back and get my Engineering degree so I can bump up to 6 figures, or wait 2-3 more years and move up the old fashioned way.
