Welp, I done up and done it!

So, we're flying out tomorrow to Panama for good. We're flying 1st class so we can bring heavier bags. The wife comes to me and asks, "For your meal, do you want Shake Shack or Fox Bros BBQ?" Me: "Wait, what?". She repeats the question, and I'm like, "Since did they start serving that on planes?!" When did this become a thing?

Gives me a good reason to monitor Panama’s weather.
Rainy season. View from my balcony:

So I'm at a staff meeting this past Monday. We don't have a huge staff, but are able to keep the place running 24-7, 365. The people in attendance were approx' ages 40 - 65. One of the co-staff that I've known the longest works Sat - Mon. Two twelve hour shifts, and a 9 to 5. He had a mess of a shift a week prior and jokingly said to us - "As that was playing out, I thought to myself - what the hell am I doing? I should be retired by now. Hopefully in 1 year!" Another staff mentioned she's got about 4 - 5 years left. They were upbeat and cheerful. The rest of us 40-somethings did our best to be polite, and NON-envious or jealous, lol. Grinding our teeth, haha.

He takes the summers off each year to go fishing, so that's always the highlight of his year. Leaves around late-June and comes back late-August. Must be a good feeling knowing next year he can take off April - June for vacation, and then be off permanently.

The woman who is filling in for him this summer is cool. One of our most reliable on-call / aux' staff members. Hoping she applies for his job next year as she does on-call work for another 3 - 4 locations in the company, but is definitely the kind of person you want in the regular rotation.
