Welp - FAMU Football Coach, Willie Simmons, is ready to accept the Duke RB COACH job, according to multiple reports.

I hate that all the reports/tweets are saying he left for "the Duke job", as if he's going to be the HC. What job did he get?

Yeah. I ain’t gone be a hypocrite now that this affects my alma mater.

Its going to suck cause this year has been a blast especially the week during the Celebration Bowl. Its was like experiencing two Homecomings in the same year.

Its been a good ride Willie

Yeah man as a fellow Rattler I'm def sad to see him go, but can't stand in the way of more $$$ & possible great opportunities.

He left a Head Coach job to become an assistant coach though.

It's in hopes a white school's AD will see the job he's doing and give him a head coaching job. He'll end up at some mid major white school in a few years.

Word on the streets, his ultimate goal is to get back to Clemson which is where he played football and was Graduate assistant. But you are 100% correct.

False. And bro they mainly coaching against other HBCU coaches. Outcoached by who?
It's not false in the least bit and I'm an HBCU alum lol. Do I need to post the MEAC or SWAC's record against PWI conferences? You must not have seen FAMU when they were in the playoffs last year? Not a single HBCU has gotten past the first round in damn near 20 years. Exactly why I said it didn't make any sense for them to be making the most money in FCS because the schools ain't getting shit out of it competitively. The same FAMU team that won ran through the SWAC got beaten to sleep by a mediocre team that gave up 60 points the next round 2 years ago. What do you think would happen if FAMU had met up with North Dakota State, Montana or South Dakota State? It almost never fails, look good playing other HBCU's but when it's time to play a white school they fold. That's just what it is.

A white school with top tier Black athletes and ten or more times the athletic budget

What top tier black athletes do Southeastern Louisiana, Furman, Richmond, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Montana State, Villanova, Delaware, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, etc... have??? Cut the bullshit lol. North Dakota State has dominated FCS and hardly have any black players at all. What they HAVE done is hire coaches that can actually coach. And the budget point just proves my point. If you have budget issues why are you paying coaches the most in FCS?????

HBCUs can't compete with the big PWIs but beat mid major schools quite often. NCCU beat Elon this season. Howard beat Robert Morris and lost by 3 to Northwestern who is in the Big 10. As someone who attended an HBCU AND a PWI, I'm well aware Blacks that go to PWIs tend to overrate their prowess and experience and pathologize HBCUs to kiss up to whites.

Simmons is leaving a cushy job to be a water boy at a PWI who's program sucks.

These PWIs ain't never gon hire a Black head coach. It's a pipe dream.

Also the FCS playoffs has a low payout and the games be on ESPN3, that shit aint worth a fuck. Celebration Bowl has a bigger payout and comes on ABC. Levels. :dunno:

Norfolk State ex head coach Latrell Scott left to become the tight ends coach at East Carolina about 3 years ago. May become something of a regular occurrence

PWIs. Top tier 1-AA and D2 schools usually have their way with HBCUs
The only time I’ve seen HBCUs square up and have a competitive game is when the coaches are PWI alums

Trei Oliver, NCCU's coach went to NCCU and Grambling. He has wins over 3 PWIs just the last 2 years. I can tell yall don't watch alot of HBCU football.

Ultimate goal is to be a HC at a FBS school which is nothing wrong with that.

Like Skinny Black told DJ in Hustle & Flow, "Everybody's gotta have a dream!"

But nah, I wish the bro luck. He had a great season, hope it works out for him. FAMU needs to keep it in the HBCU family for their next hire.

Guess you didn’t see the 1st round of the 1-AA playoffs
I just told you I’m from NC. I know mad niggas that played at NCCU. He’s the last person you need to mention in this discussion

Yes I saw Richmond come back on NCCU in a tight game when their QB got hurt. Lets not pretend it wasnt a contest. I also saw there was no one in the stands and that payout for FCS playoffs is small.

Why wouldnt I mention Trei? You implied only coaches who come from PWI's can compete with white schools.

Dude beat 3 in 2 seasons, and your response is you know mad niggas that played at NCCU? I actually went to school there bruh.

word, it’s like that? Then get out my face with that shit  you know that nigga ain’t bringing Central to higher heights. He’s done a good job given that they were recently D2…but it’s a 1-AA school, which means they are in the same bubble as Montana, NDSU, SDSU. This isn’t HBCU football. This is Division 1. They aren’t a factor. Those PWIs you named weren’t powerhouses

Bruh you moved the goal post. It went from no HBCU coach can beat a PWI, to now they have to beat a "Powerhouse" for it to count. There are plenty of crappy PWI programs and occassionally HBCU's can and will beat them. Trei has done an outstanding job and it wouldnt be a shock if he eventually moves on himself.

I never said no HBCU can bear a PWI
This back and forth started because…you think HBCUs should only hire coaches who played at HBCUs. I stated that most of those niggas are lower caliber, and get outcoached by PWIs. Coaches who played at PWIs are usually better coaches.
There will always be exceptions,, but I stand by what I said. It’s definitely not because the white mans ice is colder. I can easily see how I can be viewed as a coon. But I have reasons, that I’d be happy to explain if you really want to get into it
I’m on the same side as you. I remember you taking on a board full of CACs when the Panthers were about to draft Cam Newton. I see where you’re coming from.

I went to a school in Texas who kept losing to North Dakota State. Most of our players were Black and we got a lot of transfers from big time programs. N Dakota State and them programs can coach, recruit, and develop talent over the years. I remember one year we played them the whole offensive line was all seniors or red shirt juniors. You're a 100% right and these dudes are clueless.
