I am looking forward to this. I don't know shit about the comic but I like that it isn't a typical Super Hero story. I think I will skim through it. I was gonna catch the midnight showing but 3 hours might be too much for that. So I'll just wait for the weekend.

Thanks. I didn't know it was out yet, I'll check it out. Though I'm not familiar with the comic books, I'm a CG fan and been keeping track of the production.

BTW, CG naked people are not real naked people. :hmm:

BTW, what's this movie?

Smothered In Ass. Do a search on it.

Sorry, If you have some problem with CG naked men it's a personal issue.

They have a name for that.

Just because I can do this ...don't make me gay.

If that's the case, all comic book artist are gay.:smh::smh:

No different than painting a tree, car, apple or landscape.

And no I'm sure they don't have bits on the screen.

I told ya'll. If you never read the comic, theres an incredibly high probability you will NOT like this movie. Two Hours and 43 min is NOT enough time to tell the entire story. Also, Dr. Manhattan is eventually naked for a significant portion of the comic. It directly correlates to his increasing distance from humanity. :hmm:

c/s yeah people who havnt read watchmen are not gonna feel it for the most part, i also agree its not long enough i cant wait for the final edition zack just finished that clocks in at around 4 hours with tales of the black frieghter included:dance::dance::dance:

Now I'm wondering if I should hold off just so I can see this epic version of first.

Nah...I gotta at least catch it on the big screen.

Either way, seeing as how I really appreciate the graphic novel, I'm gonna be all over this in one format or another.

im with you i gotta go see it, to make matters worse depending on the box office theres an unrated version without black frieghter which is supposed to be longer and much more violent than the theatrical cut that will play in theatres and imax in july:eek:

 You wouldn't pay to see it?

Maybe because your not a fan of theAlan Moore comic you see it differently. What do you think was overdone about it?

MOVIES DONT DO ALAN MOORES WORK ANY JUSTICE
im a big fan of his , loved all his comics , swampthing , Miracle Man etc , but hollywood sucks and its better to read his books than to pay to see a movie based on his book

I read the comic a few weeks ago i thought it was ight but not the greatest thing ever to be put down on print, i didn't think it would translate well into a movie for some reason.

I get the feeling this movie is going to be a huge colossal box office bomb, and Mo Pizon reinforced my belief, Fan type movies are like elections you need independents more than your base, non fans have to get it and appreciate it.

All the people who didn't read this thing or aren't fans are going to be like wtf, there are not enough fans to push this thing over the hump. And just like superman movies will always suck ass because directors try and stay too true to the superman feels bullshit rather than letting him run free and smash somebody's face in like batman this movie tried to stay too true rather than making the tweaks to make both sides happy.

Damn, sorry to hear it was weak cuz I was looking forward to seeing this at the theater. Now I will just wait for the R5 or dvd screener.

Because I don't know the characters, I can't say if you'll like it or not but I would think so if you're a fan. 2 hours? Try 2:45. Piss before you sit down to watch it. It really seemed like a fan-oriented movie. The audience responded well to it. I do like the fact that it was nothing like the typical superhero movies.

Considering there will supposedly be NO sequels. The length should be welcome to those who want to see most of the story told. (The "black freighter" part will will be released in an animated DVD.).

WELP!!! that's enough for me...!!! *exits thread*
I actually DID see the movie and have no problem comprehending what I saw IN THE MOVIE, which is what this thread is about. Its not about the comic books.
You all really should least GLANCE through the comic before seeing the movie. It's not your typical comic and you would have been better prepared. At least fucking wikipedia it.
NOPE. I will NOT do research for a movie. You have no idea how many screeners I see. I don't always read up on films based on other things unless I already have a personal interest in it beforehand. Sometimes you just like to be surprised.

For what its worth, a lot of people were applauding at the end of the movie. Usually people don't applaud unless they liked it. I can say for certain that this wasn't a typical Hollywood movie, so I can't help but think they did it to please the fan base.
They broke a lot "rules" typical of Hollywood big budget movies.

It'll have a strong opening weekend, but I don't see it pulling in big numbers after that.

I checked out the motion comic last week (Thanks, fam) so in a way, I've already been fulfilled of what this story looks like with sound and music (Aside from the laughable "female" voices). If I get time, I'll check out the movie eventually, but expectations have been lowered---As expected.

When have these types of movies ever becoming super blockbusters? Does Dark Knight count as a fan movie that broke hollywood rules? It was pretty dark :dunno:

Well...
1. There is an actor playing Dr. Manhattan. He's not CG when he's walking around with his Johnson out. They use a lot of CG on him because of his abilities.
And YES I have a problem with THAT MUCH male nudity in a movie. Most heterosexual men would. I'd would have at least liked a little warning beforehand. (Okay, maybe I should have done a LITTLE research) I believe that you will hear a lot of reactions from people who don't know and take their children. Actually, scratch that. There's no way this movie won't be rated R. There's way too much violence. They seemed to want to make it clear that "mutha fuckas are getting KILLED up in this bitch!" A lot of the deaths were extremely graphic.

No. Unfortunately Blunt already spoiled a little bit. Since the cat's out of the bag, I guess I can say that this movie probably won't have a sequel. That's big budget rule #1
"Its all about the sequels"
Also, with Dark Knight, it broke some rules but still stayed within the rules of a big budget Hollywood flick. It also stayed within the rules of comic books - hero vs. villian, etc. I really can't go into detail without spoilers. They just broke a lot of rules and these were not typical superheroes.

DaMMiT!! Im trying to get my rhomboids and rear delts to look like that

...additionally some cats run go see the new hot movie, for the same reason they buy the latest gear, not because its their style they feel pressure just so they can be all in the know and hip...come to find out they dont like it at all.

and if they read what happen early in life to Jonathan then what happen at Gila Flats maybe they'd understand better.

Since I haven't read the comic book and didn't know shit about this flick, I had no expectations. All I know is that they could have probably shaved a good 40 minutes off this shit. Its not a bad movie but it was overdone and probably overbudget considering the end result. I'm glad I screened this because I wouldn't pay to see it.
I didn't bother to read the beginning or middle of your "Review" since my eyes scanned the end of it first. FAIL!

:hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:
You're right. I'm not a fan. Like I said, I was completely unfamiliar with the story and characters. I will say this, they damn sure ain't the X-Men. People going in expecting some X-Men or Avengers type shit will be disappointed. The characters are pretty much dysfunctional individuals and all but a couple have some deep-seeded, fucked -in-the-head shit going on. What was overdone was the script. They try to drive home too many details and the presentation of the characters seemed a bit haphazard. They tried to tell everybody's story in too much detail and then they waived back and forth between time periods too haphazardly as well.
They tried to add EVERYTHING from the graphic novel. Was that wrong of them? People need to stop with the comic book movie = crazy action stunt fighting movie with minimal story mindset. :hmm:

Yep. I said what you said too. Mofos going to every comic book based movie expecting a clusterfuck of action scenes. This movie is not for small-minded individuals who don't want to see a deep story about people in a world on edge.:hmm:

I've read that book at work over and over and maybe this is the one that they should have cut corners on and not be too faithful to the book.
I guess after From Hell, league of extraordinary gentlemen and v for vendetta they probably thought the right thing to do was film the book as is with little changes.

i think fox is gonna make a lot of money off warner bros this weekend:yes:

This film looks like it's going to be very polarizing. Fans and those who are somewhat familiar with the source will probably think it's one of the best comic book films around. From Mo's review and others that I've read it's clear a lot of these people are expecting some normal run-of-the mill X-Men/Spider-Man type shit when that clearly isn't the case.

He didn't even have to do that. The digital comics are posted on BGOL and have been for weeks. He could have done some research beforehand by watching it.

but the reality is if you have to read the comic book to appreciate the movie this movie is going to bomb with a capital B
