Re: Watched "Girl 6" last night on cable..what happened to Theresa Randle? She's a go

Miracle at St anna is a 5 star movie. Mo Betta Blues, Summer of Sam, Inside Man, Jungle Fever, Do the right thing. I had my children watching all his movies like it was theater class in our living room.

Spike ain't flawless. No movie maker is flawless. Not every movie is for everybody.

Always had a thing for her. She always had a humble get confident demeanor on camera. Loved her in Sugar Hill

Am I the only perv looking at her and Gabrielle
in this image thinking of nasty thoughts. :D

One thing I remember about Theresa from way back, which at the time I thought might hurt her a bit.... I think this was like in the late 90's in an interview for Ebony or Vibe, she kinda stuck her nose up at the possibility of doing a show or movie on HBO or Showtime. She said something like "they would never try to push Julia Roberts to do a cable tv show". At the time I remember thinking, well damn; you're not Julia Roberts... Julia Roberts is an international supersstar, so you shouldn't be comparing her prospects to yours... you're a pretty, working actress, so go for good roles without worrying what a mega star is doing. I'm not saying that her career dried up because of that attitude, but it's interesting that she said that shit like right before cable tv blew up into something that competes with or tops theatrical stuff. I'll see if I can find the exact quote.

Edit: that was from a 1996 Vibe interview. Best I could do was find the article in Google Books, but here's the link (page 67 near the end of the page):

"Girl 6" was a horrible movie.
"Girl 6", "She hates me", and "miracle at st. anna" are by far Spike Lee's worst movies.

She hates me was a good movie to me and st anna as well but to each their own
I wondered what happened to her, she acted well back in the day

i would nut all in this woman til her pussy and asshole are lookin like a melting ice cream sandwhich.

Even if she said that, that was 1996. HBO has come a LONG way in the past 20 years. That was before OZ, Sopranos, Sex and the city all those things that put HBO on that next level original programming.

Back in 96 the best thing on HBO was probably the LArry Sanders show or Dream On

no red hook summer is by far spike's worst movie. at least girl 6 and she hate had some direction for the 1st and 2nd act of the film.

yeah, it was 2/3 years before the Sopranos actually aired and changed everything in terms of made for cable programming... although HBO was already on the come up because of the Last Seduction and Red Rock West a couple years earlier. It was starting to be seen as something more than what it was. Who knows what it was that they wanted her to do... could have been something bad or it could have been something worthwhile... Sanders and Arliss were pretty decent shows in the mid 90's for instance, and in 1997, and although it didn't premeire until 2 years later, HBO was in talks (96/97)with David Chase about his New Jersey mobster show he was shopping, so they were stepping up big time. I'm just saying, she may have made a mistake in worrying about what Julia Roberts was doing and apparently just nixing off cable. Given the time period, she could have ended up doing something memorable.
