WATCH: Disabled vet rips cop who told him he couldn’t park in handicap spot because ‘you can walk’
A Florida police officer received an earful from a disabled veteran after harassing him for parking in a handicap spot in front of a Walgreen’s store, despite the fact that the veteran had a handicap sticker in his window.
In the video — uploaded to Facebook — the veteran identifies himself as Isiah James and goes off on an expletive-filled tirade against the officer. He explains that he received multiple wounds after serving three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan and being blown up eight times by “motherf*cking IEDs.”

Things turn even more contentious after the officer, identified as G. Wilson, smacks the camera out of the veteran’s hand — cracking the screen — and causing James to call for another officer saying Wilson is “out of control.”
“Officer, I’m a damned disabled veteran,” James explains to the Riviera Beach officer.
“Does that make you any better than a citizen or an old lady in a wheelchair that really needs that place? I’m just saying, you’re walking. You’re walking,” Officer Wilson said. “A U.S. citizen is a U.S. citizen. So what makes you any better than an old lady that can’t walk?”
Another officer appears on the scene as James, once again, explains that he has screws and pins in his leg and that he had to go through the Veteran Affairs office and the Department of Motor Vehicles to get his handicap sticker because he has a legitimate disability.
A trapped Wilson continues to insist that the disabled veteran is still in the wrong while denying he broke his phone when he smacked it out of his hand.
“Share this video. When people say being black doesn’t effect how you’re treated in this country? Guess again. It just happened to me. Now, what if I didn’t turn on my camera? Would anybody believe my story?” James wrote on his Facebook page.

This officer is the exact type person that does not need to be on the force. He's the type of person who can't be wrong, and he is going to make sure to use his badge to keep you from proving otherwise. Thank God this was all on camera.

+NotYourTypicalNegro Totally right dude. If the cops aren't taking charge and wearing body cameras, instead spending all their money from immoral search-and-seizures on Goddamn hummers and flashy cop toys, then citizens better arm themselves with any recording they can. My Dad was a police officer for 3 decades and that shit nearly killed his soul, but he was a remarkably better human being once he retired.

I am a disabled vet too. I have a disabled parking pass also. I don't always or often use it because the pain I suffer now is wear and tear joint pain from poor walking technique because of nerve damage in my left leg.
Some days I have no pain at all and can walk forever, others it really hurts to walk....
From looking at me with pants and a t shirt on you would hardly be able to tell anything is wrong with me except for my 2 missing fingers.
A few people, when they find out I have a disabled pass question my true level of handicap....and I just smile at them.
One time I got a card placed on my windshield telling me I was an asshole and that the cops would be called if I parked there again.....
Some fucking people are hopeless.

+Smedley Butler I think that's great that you can just walk away. I feel for the veteran, but acting the way he did was not helping it was just making things worse. This gentleman was upset, clearly. He did not make the situation any better by antagonizing the officer, who wasn't helping the situation any by acting the way he did. BOTH of the men acted inappropriately and the second officer was pointing that out. If one of them had just let cooler heads prevail, but not nowadays when you can post stuff online and it goes viral.

+Bos La Moss I agree with you, they both were acting emotionally and escalating the situation. That being said, the cop just assaulted the man, and broke his phone. If the cop had done that to me, I can assure you I would be very angry, especially when he just pretends it didn't happen. This man's situation is different than my situations. Only one of them was wearing a badge that is supposed to imply a level of maturity, and it wasn't the vet. He is not obligated to be mature.
It is good that these vids go viral because it lets us see the bs that some cops get away with all the time, causing any cop with a brain to make sure they don't repeat the incident.

+Iroquois14 Also, disabled spots were originally created for disabled veterans.

+Iroquois14 You are an idiot sir. Is this why you are not allowed to join the police department ? Your desire to make shit up to suit a view ? Seems like a good reason to me.
let me educate you, then you can read, get offended, E-rage...but still be wrong
1st you need to understand what Title 7 of the Civil rights act of 1968 said. It prohibited discrimination based on race,religion,creed,blah,blah...but it did not have ANY stipulations relating to people whom were handicapped. In the mid 70's as the issue was put forth, bills to amend Title 7 were wrote up and left out to dry. No real reason has ever been listed, just rumors.
Anywho, in 1988 Title 7 was finally changed...that would be TITLE VII OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT...not Title randomness of any military act. The change added in 2 classes. Handicapped and families with children
THAT SAME YEAR the Americans with Disabilities Act was put forth to congress. Senate wanted their bill to be the law and congress, who had different criteria, wanted theirs to be law. Both houses passed their own bill. So, 2 bills for 1 law, well, then it goes to the president ( You should watch School house rock " I'm just a bill" episode so you understand how that works btw) and Bush signed the UNIFIED bill in 1990. In that bill was a section outlining the criteria for Handicapped parking for businesses and government controlled properties.
NOW...1 more "Cherry". The actual FIRST Handicapped spot to ever be created was done so in England under the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 ...which, guess what ? had jack shit to do with the military as well.
Questions ?
Feel free to E-rage now.
