Could this hurt Cardale's draft stock? Personally I thought the quote was unnecessary. The implications call into question his work ethic and football IQ. Theres always a stigma with blk QB's and even if urban didn't mean anything by it, it certainly doesn't help Cardale.
 
Don't know. I would have to see his transcript. How well one did at school is and objective measure.
 
Even if its true dude won you a national championship shouldn't be nothing but positive shit

I don't see how that quote questions his football IQ...it says he is an intellectual, he is very smart and has great skills.....and that may not have been reflected in his school work, but now he doesn't have to worry about school....
 
I mean..the brotha did tweet " we didnt come here to play school..we came to play football, whats with all these classes"

If somebody says some shit like that ...its safe to assume that they're not exactly fond of academics and being in class. But plenty of people dont really do well academically but still excell in other areas of their lives that they are more passionate about..

It just comes off like a left handed compliment to me. Even if it was truthful, at this stage of the game, did it really need to be said? NFL scouts look for any excuse to pass on the Blk QB. If they can't knock the physical skills, then they go to the "intangibles". Urban's comments speak to those "intangibles".
 
I can't stand Urban Meyer and the butteyes but is he lying? If it's true it's true. Everybody including Cardale knew he made a mistake coming back last year.

It was a bad comment that can be taken wrong, truth or not he does not have to say it, that was T.O.s issue he felt because he was being honest it was ok to say what he said...just because it's true doesn't always mean you have to speak it. This is coming from a coach that shitted on Jameis Winston last year and yet ignore all the shit that happened in Florida when he was the coach there.
