Was I correct in not minding my own business last week?

I was in one of the East Flatbush Walgreens looking for birthday ( Mons and little sister b'days on consecutive days) and Father's Day Cards. Went to the gift card section and heard a black guy, maybe 15 + years older than me on the phone saying, "They don't have Ebay gift cards!" I thought he was talking to his fam until I heard an Indian muthafucka in the background. Alarms went off and I knew it was a scam bcuz my Pops had been caught up with African, Jamaican and Indian scammers for years. I said to the older brutha, "It's a scam. No business takes gift card payments!" The sista Walgreens clerk in that aisle heard what was up and said,"It's a scam, hang up,Sir!" Older Brutha said it was Avis on the line. I immediately went to the FAQ on their website and saw their note about being asked to pay rental payments with gift cards being a scam. I showed it to Older Brutha and he nodded his head. He may have said thanks. Whether or not me and the sista that worked there got through to him is another story. My Dad knows scamming exists, but doesn't listen to us. I thought I had to help the dude. Would y'all have intervened like I did or minded your own business?

bruh I think west indians and africans elders are targeted by these scams..

I remember back in the day, a trini co worker of mine said her computer got infected with a virus

and she needs to pay five hundred dollars and deposit a check into her account before she does it,

I was like why do you need to deposit a ten dollar check, she said to prove to the people fixing her computer

that she has the money in her checking account.. I was like whaa da fuck are you talkin about.. that makes

absolutely no sense, I said let me speak to them, she got some dude with a heavy indian accent on the phone,

and I was like yea, why does she have to deposit money in her account to give you money.... he was like

this is no concern of yours please but the lady back on the phone, I was like shut the fuck up.

and hung up....

I told her it was a scam and DO NOT deposit anything in your account... she acted like she was listening to me...

two days later she was crying talkin about, somebody took ten thousand dollars from her checking account...

then she said the dude kept calling her and she gave in... I tried to feel sorry for her,

but I just couldnt.....

I think scammers target the older west indian and african community.in this country..

and it must be profitable because this happend damn near twenty years ago, and apparently its

still going on strong in the older west indian/african community

You did the right thing. That "minding my own business" shit sounds good until someone doesn't intervene when your family is getting got.
