It was scary going to these areas at that time as an outsider but folks generally left us alone when they saw us fixing up the community other than stealing our supplies but that's expected in construction.
The owner went to Federal prison for fraud. Glad I never had any of the houses put in my name. But yeah it' was depressing to know a white developer can come in those areas, no problem, but your life is in danger when you go there.
