Just after noon on September 16, 1920 a horse-drawn wagon packed with dynamite and 500 pounds of small iron weights exploded in front of the J.P. Morgan & Co. building at 23 Wall Street in New York City, killing 38 people and injuring hundreds of others.

It remains one of the worst terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

To this day, the damage to the limestone facade is visible on the outside of the building, as the company said it would never repair the damage in defiance to those who committed the crime.
