Coach K gets a specific type of player to come to Duke
It has been said in the past "not everybody can play at Duke"
I dont like Duke
But I have enormous respect for Coach K... he's the real deal.
He needs to get some ballers some tough kids to ball
Those types of players usually dont go to Duke.
Until he does he may make the sweet 16 or even the elite 8 but he will not win the big one

Man Im a big ACC fan (I'm from Maryland) but even I must concede that Big East basketball is becoming the dominant...it was for a good while that ACC was running shit but ever since that expansion, shit just hasnt been the same...UNC is the only squad that can run with anybody out of the ACC...Coach K needs to stop lying to himself...recruiting the Abercombie and Fitch advertisement boys aint going to cut it...
I really think that when Avery, Brand, and Magette went pro early coach K started shifting his recruiting approach towards a different type of player. Guys who had immense basketball skills but not athletic enough to go to the league right away. Shit, it's Duke....if coach K really wanted to pull a couple of one and done'rs I think he has the pull to make that happen. But that shit is too much of a hassle for some coaches. Especially with those types of dudes having multiple "advisers" walking onto campus with them
Gerald Henderson just picked the wrong day to have a bad game. With no inside presence and that lack of athleticism on the perimeter has been the problem the last few years. And when Henderson has a night as bad as he did against Nova tonight, Duke won't beat any top teams.
I think i has to do with the boosters and Alumni wanting to see a bunch of whites on the team. The players they get now play just like Bruce Bowen. Take charges and spot up 3's. These cats cant make a mid range shot to save their lives. I cant remember when coach l had the top recruiting class.
I guess the boosters and alumni don't care about nat'l championships anymore. As long as they win ACC championships they can keep playing with soft, unathletic white boys.
I know those early defectors messed him up, but Coach K is lucky he's highly respected, a coaching legend, and white. If he didn't have all three...his job would be in jeopardy in the near future. See Kentucky for reference.
