NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man punched and dragged a woman on the ground as he tried to steal her purse in broad daylight on a Brooklyn street last week, police said Wednesday as they released disturbing video of the attempted robbery.

The 65-year-old woman was walking near St. Edwards and Willoughby streets outside Fort Greene Park around 4:40 p.m. last Tuesday when the man got off a bicycle and chased her while trying to grab her purse, police said and video shows.
In the video, the man can be seen struggling with the woman in a street before dragging her on a sidewalk as he tries to steal her purse.

At one point, the man punched the woman in the face, police said.
The woman fought back and ultimately held onto her purse, according to police. The man fled the area on a bicycle.
The woman suffered pain and swelling to her face, as well as back pain and abrasions to her body. She was transported to Brooklyn Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
