damn I wish I had not entered this thread. I'm starting to second guess getting the PS3. Outside of God Of War 3 and maybe hard rain, I don't see the appeal for its price tag.

Sony’s PS3 Real 10 Year Plan: Home Entertainment Takeover
The PlayStation 3 is the slow seller in the United States but Sony still holds belief in their “10 year plan.” Many of us consider this to be the same style of plan Sony used with the PS2, sell your console through multiple generations and own the market share. The PS2’s launch was much more graceful when compared to its 7th generation counterpart. Perhaps the PS3 has a different destiny… perhaps they want to remove all other media boxes from your living room.

Imagine a life without a cable box or Tivo and you’re probably envisioning Sony’s road map for a media distribution empire. First, remove Tivo from the situation with a DVR style box using their PlayTV technologies, wired up to the PlayStation 3 using a USB connection. The United States hasn’t seen a launch of PlayTV, more than likely because the PS3 isn’t a huge console here yet and Tivo is partnered with many cable and satellite providers already.
Senior director of the PlayStation Network, Susan Panico said Sony “looks aspirationally at HBO, the way they have Sex and the City and other shows” (gamespot) after admitting Sony wants to replace cable boxes in the home. Tivo has already done a great job removing the need for a cable box, allowing you to rent a “cable card” to insert into a Tivo and gain access to all their content for your DVR needs. DirectTV offers (or has in the past) a Tivo or Tivo-like DVR solution. Cable and DirectTV offer the ability to rent their DVR or offer a solution to purchase your own at a retail outlet What if Sony decides to partner with one or more of these providers to offer an all-in-one solution. PS3 owners wouldn’t have to purchase additional equipment and could be up and running immediately with hard disks big enough to handle HD content.
Sony could offer you a graphically appealing gaming experience, a high definition BluRay solution, media distribution for renting movies, an iTunes style online store for purchasing and playing music all wrapped up in a DVR solution. All this content for a $400 price tag is a value when all the offers are combined into one tiny black box.
Looking at today’s Tivo Series3 HD DVR you’ll notice the ability to play music directly from iTunes, browse and play Youtube shows, watch Disney offerings and even high definition NetFlix playback. The Tivo DVR’s can also talk with other DVR’s in the household making it easy to share TV records across systems. The only thing missing in the Tivo solution is a high definition gaming platform and the BluRay hardware.
We’re all sitting here poking fun at the small PS3 game library and telling people that BluRay is going to lose out to HD downloads yet we may be missing the bigger picture: an all-in-one media empire solution. The PS3 may not carry the largest game library compared to the Xbox 360 or the sales records of the Wii but if Sony finds a way to become a reliable and required media set top box they may realize their true “10 year plan.”
EA tried to fuck everybody with that piece of shit Undercover game. How the fuck you make a new game that has less features than a game you made 3 years ago?Need for Speed Undercover has way more fram rate issues on the PS3 then the 360. But thats not saying a lot because it was EA. Most wanted was a much better game.

I thought after Dead Space EA would realize that making quality games would shut up their haters.

I run into that on PSN as well. Guess they are grown men screaming in the mic which makes it even worse. But the reason PSN does not have more of this is because 80% of the owners don't have a headset. Thats right text chat while tying to evade the enemy.
Honestly I'm about 2 seconds from turning my PlayStation 3 from a gaming console to a media hub (or what ever you call it)....Basically putting a large hard drive on it and moving all of my (hollywood) movies on it and leaving the gaming shit alone.
If you have a bluetooth wireless headset for your celly it will sync up with ps3 also.
I have both, both are good systems to me so I dont see what the big fuss is. I've been playing PS3 more since I've got it than 360. The EA games like Madden, NCAA football I can't see any difference between the 2 systems. I played all-pro2k football on both and it plays like shit on ps3, major frame rate issues, but all the other games like deadspace seem to the same.
I like the ps3 x-bar interface better than 360's. Also the 360 is loud as a mofo when playing games and movies. Ps3 is much quieter, all that damn noise the 360 makes can get on ur nerves while watching a movie. I remember the original xbox was loud as shit to.
Plus I like that the ps3 comes with wireless built in, unlike that $99 shit Microsoft was trying to pull. PS3 also has the browser which is nice.
As for the Wii we have one at my job, I'v played the sports on it like bowling and boxing, but outside of that I don't really see the big deal.
All in all PS3 definitely has better features but it just depends on what games you like to play, I like the exclusives on both and the multiplats I get on ps3 now since thats what most of my people got, so play ya games and stfu bitches lol.
calm down negro, i wasn't directing my post at you, just the first comment. I did read yo post, my comment was to the cats that have bluetooth headsets but didnt know they could use them on ps3..damn, ol sensitive ass negro.
I aint pro ps3, I aint pro anything, I got both systems and both have their positives and negatives. What up with this "choosing sides" mentality, it's just games son. Play on and be happy.
I don't know whats up with the choosing sides as well. But most people know they can use a bluetooth ear piece. Hell bluetooth was one of the features they promoted. But most are to damn cheap to go out and get one.
for the longest i supported xbox 360. i bought mine last xmas and got a store warranty on it. i took care of it. about 2 weeks ago, right when xmas break started i got a Red ring of death. How gay. I mostly used it to watch DIVX movies. Now I hope the store cant fix it and gives me my money back. I will either buy a ps3 or save it. even if there arent enough games, nothing is worst than having ur machine break.
plus my brother has had over 3 consoles with RROD.
FUCK 360's breaking ass.
yea, mofos need to know where to look. mycheaptech.com had $30 jawbone's last week, plus I stay up on woot.com and ihavetohavethat.com for daily deals.
My boy copped 2 sets of blue tooth headphones for like 10 bones, they were cheap as hell, but he only uses them to listen to shit at work so they work nicely.
Hell I copped a nice lil 2 GB sandisk media player for like 30 bucks for my girl a while back.
devilstrider.... how do you clean your 360?
i been said that the ps3 was trash when it came to GAMES. This summer that passed i had a g to burn. i went into gamestop to check out the ps3. i couldn't even think of FIVE games that i wanted to buy outside of msg4.shit was pathetic. long story short i picked up some games for my 360 and my son's wii.
on a side note.... anyone know where i can get Dreamcast game(copies or back ups)?
Sony in a Pinch
Moreover, it is clear that not every player in the videogame market enjoys the same warm consumer reception. Sony's situation in particular is worth examining.
Sony is still trying to make the PlayStation 3 business profitable and start paying off the costs of developing the hardware. Its software sales are strong, despite weaker hardware sales, but both will need to improve significantly, and soon. Given Sony's ironclad devotion to profitability in the near term, the quickest route to higher PS3 sales -- a price drop -- simply is not feasible.
As an alternative, Sony could publish a must-have software title that attracts more consumers willing to pay the price for its hardware. Short of Metal Gear Solid 4 in June 2008, it would appear that no exclusive software has really driven hardware sales. Even Sony's flagship holiday title, LittleBigPlanet, only managed 141,000 units during November.
The PSP hardware business is actually robust and profitable, even though November hardware sales were down year-on-year. Software sales are still miserable. Until it finds a way to monetize the PSP market, Sony will never begin to make the kind of money from its handheld that Nintendo makes from its Nintendo DS.
For its part, the PS2 is still selling well in its ninth Christmas season, but is slowly fading out. Two years ago, or even a year ago, Sony might have been able to point to the PS2 as a solid source of revenue while the PS3 was finding its footing. That is less feasible with each passing month.
If Sony can find solutions to its PS3 and PSP problems (price reduction for the former, much greater software sales for the latter), then it should compete well against the Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS in 2009.
Selling 1.56 million units in 22 days, Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360 (developed by Epic Games, published by Microsoft Game Studios) was the top seller for the month. It performed significantly better in its first month than its predecessor, the original Gears of War, which sold 1 million units during November 2006. (Microsoft has since announced that Gears of War 2 has sold 3 million units worldwide.)
The biggest cross-platform release was Call of Duty: World at War (from Activision), which sold almost 2.2 million units across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, ranked second and sixth, respectively. The previous iteration of the game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, launched in November 2007 and posted 2.0 million units in its first month on those same two platforms.
Resistance 2, Sony's follow-up to the popular launch title Resistance: Fall of Man, sold 385,000 units during November.
