You get sports channels? That's the main reason I keep cable

edit: PlayOn sounds dope, might have to give it a shot

Firstrow along with NFL streams (among others)....yep

 WTF does paying less for TV equal all that judgement?

Verizon could kill their competitors if they did this in areas where there's a choice of providers. Cable itself is a ripoff for numerous reasons. Better to just pay for internet and watch TV that way.

Yeah it is....

Until your cable company decides they want to start throttling traffic for it.

I find it odd that at 10 o'clock at night, all of my internet is blazing fast (as it should be) except for a few select services, namely Netflix, Hulu, Amazon VOD, and HBOGO. My connection can pull down 50GB in about 5 hours, but I'm lucky if I can watch streaming video from the aforementioned sites without it buffering every 5 minutes in standard definition.

But I agree with you. I killed my cable a few months ago, and haven't missed it.

I get local only. Fuck paying for them channels.

Re: Verizon wants to charge cable customers for only the channels they want to subscr

Verizon would dominate cable if this happens.

Re: Verizon wants to charge cable customers for only the channels they want to subscr

There was an a la carte option up for debate in the Senate about 15 years ago, and the cable lobby killed it. This would be great if it happened.
They killed it because it most benefited them to charge by the package. Now with the near death of "free" network TV they have figured a way to justify insane rates in an a la carte format. Ultimately, the consumer would get screwed further here and will end up paying as much if not more in most situations.

I think the only people who will benefit from this system are the elderly, and under 30 bachelor males. Everyone else would get screwed.
