USPS warns it might have to shutter by June as $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package provides no funding

Fuck the usps, no matter which state you are in the people who work at the post office are slow as fuck, they will take 5 minutes to sell a stamp. Having a cushy job with sweet benefits does not give them any incentive to work faster.

You must be exclusively literally be talking about the post office and not USPS as a whole. I dont know how much has changed, but there was nothing cushy about working in the distribution centers. Depending on where you worked youd be constantly moving and you could look at the people who'd work there for years and see the long term damage that was happening to their bodies.

Also not everyone who works for USPS is a permanent employee so they are not entitled to benefits. That being said there were permanent employees who bullshited alot because of the union. I was there in the early 2000s and from my understanding it was extremely hard to fire people, so you would have people taking advantage of the system. At the time I thought some people were lazy but in hindsight some people were working there since they were dam near kids. Again working a physically demanding job takes a toll on your body and it doesn't matter how much of a healthy lifestyle you live.

Because I was not permanent, I went for a interview with UPS and from what I observed I preferred USPS. The main benefit would have been the 4 hour schedule and I was in school at the time, but the environment looked little more harsher than USPS

Bruh, maybe it's me. But does it feel as if something else is going on and were being distracted by the covid??
No.

what you’re witnessing is the collapse of the house of cards. This country has been neglected for decades. After this is over there will be rebuilding. Will it be built right?I have hope that it will.

I hear ya!! I just don't remove anything from the table anymore.. Everything you think this corporation won't do,, Is everything they will do!! Just saying!!

The Grand Sheik Taj been saying that since he was put in office, 45 was put there to bankrupt the corporation...

I work in the post office ( inside the big plants my whole 27year career( started at 20yrs old) what you said is true.. Yes we do shit normal people won't do work 12hrs on a hour notice before ending tour, work holidays, night shift, work 6 days sometimes 7 days a week( most i done 34days straight no days off. Yes Republicans tryna get their teeth in privatization since the late 80's. Yes union is strong in the North east( south not so much) they're are people here who do abuse the system.. not coming to work for months, fighting, and still have a job. Trust me it pisses alot of us off. Even though I'll be 47 luckily I have no wear n tear on my body( never had a injury or used FMLA in my whole 27yr career) but it does fuck a lot people up with back, leg and feet, and shoulder injuries. As of the new people hired by the USPS? MOST SUCK.. they're lazy, not good at panic decisions, and they'll just quit right on the spot. They put the rest of us in a bad reputation

Like,I said in another thread,I don't know what I'm gonna do,if the post office shuts down. My hospital won't allow anyone to pick up their medication at the moment due to the virus and I just talked to the hospital's pharmacy about mailing my medications.

I need both of my inhalers for my asthma when I run out..And,there's probably millions of people in the same boat as me.

This piece of shit been trying to get rid of USPS for awhile now..He won't stop until he burn this country to the ground..

:smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Fam i hear you this is becoming more common.

Stay in contact with you insurance, doctors and pharmacy.

I've been able to make "friends" so i got people fighting for me on the inside.

As i get more info on this situation i will post.

Hold ya head, fam.

its all about privatizing the mail delivery service
he probably has lobbyists from UPS, FEDEX, and amazon in his ear
Hate to burst this bubble but USPS is not a product of the government. This postal service pulled this horseshit last recession. Lastly, the guard can step in and run the postal system as a last resort.

I'm gonna keep it 100.........

I know USPS employs a lot of black folks, but they are inefficient as shit and a lot of people who work those jobs have a bad bureaucratic attitude and are slow as fuck. Pension obligations side, a lot of employees of ALL races who work for USPS act like they don't wanna be there and take it out of people just trying to handle some business.

Their tracking is the shittiest of all the shippers. There can be MAJOR gaps and they can, at times, not even scan your shit when you drop it off. Just get a "delivered" message when it's all said and done. No other carrier does business like that.

All that damn money the postal service is making. Are they getting ready to make mail free or something?
Is the money the postal service make only going to the people at the top?

Read up on pension and benefits prefunding... the Postal Service is making money and even more so than 10 yrs ago with less mail... but as long as that is an issue they will continue to appear in the red

Again see how they are required to fund pensions and benefits ahead of time unlike all of their competitors.

Aye fam.... I work with and have worked with lots of ppl that love their jobs and consistently go above and beyond....I just wish that was the perception of the majority

somebody high up in the usps... told me straight up...

the post office been privatized and is no longer part of the govt..

the post office not functioning means a whole lot more than what they are telling us...
The reality is that Congress required the USPS to refund future retiree health benefits. The USPS derives no advantage from that requirement, just the opposite. In the early years of the mandate, the USPS ended up borrowing money in order to meet the pre-funding requirement. That maxed out its $15 billion line of credit, so it has simply defaulted on the payments. And yet, much to the politicians surprise, the USPS has continued to operate day after day, year after year, relying exclusively on it's own revenue to pay its bills. They barely break even like any other American business. They will be asking for a bailout soon. Unless they wanna keep operating in the red.

I heard it was also done to keep the USPS from going to alternative fueled vehicles. By doing that, they no longer had the money to do that. A favor for the fossil fuel industry.

This was years ago, but didn't they cut back on Saturday Delivery the last time they had to be bailed out. I dont know the particulars but instead of doing away with the post office, why not cut back on the days of the week for delivery. Possibly something like doing deliveries on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I was in the post office last week and I'm looking into getting a scale so I can weigh my packages and start sending out my own mail if it's not priority.

You think privatizing usps is the solution? Look at UPS drivers in trucks with no AC, peeing in jars and shit.

Naw bro, some things can't change. Imagine if every school was private? It's bad enough for our people now.

Because FedEx and a couple of other carriers deliver a shit ton of parcels to the PO for final delivery to the home address. If you order something online and they use FedEx to get it to you, it's coming from their warehouse location to your city, and from there it's sent to the PO for their Letter Carriers to bring it to you.

My son rarely gets two days off in a week, one off day is spent delivering parcels to not get too backlogged.

The eliminating Saturday delivery was a threat....
And as stated above... FedEx, UPS and DHL less frequently Amazon rely on USPS for "last mile," delivery. If USPS cuts out one day a week 1 of 2 things will happen;

1) the packages pile up and get backlogged. Carriers would complain about the increase of packages on the return day, increase in hours/overtime on said day, potential call offs that return day....union gets involved.....etc.

2) those shipping partners listed above threaten to pull some of their business due to not being able to guarantee package delivery one day a week.

Both scenarios results in increased costs or lost revenue. ... no win..best to keep the status quo

The Guard wouldn't have a clue Bruh. That's NOT their forte. Being a Mail Clerk is an additional duty, not a career field in the military.

Actually there is an MOS in the army for Mail Clerk. I know because I was going to be one when I signed up. Its best to get friendly with the mail personnel especially when you're deployed.

Yep! I learned to be cool with the package jockeys, field medics, and cooks. @ you joining the military to be a mail clerk!

Right, but there's a difference between being a Finance Clerk and working in the Banking Industry. Those are internal to the needs of the Branch of Service and can lead one to easily transition into the civilian fields.

The MOS isn't as detailed or involved as in the civilian world.

sounds like someone made off with a lot of money.. or severly was incompetent.. of course it wasnt a brother

we know his face wouldve been the poster child for this..

gotdam shame, could you imagine what kind of surplus the post office wouldve had if they wouldve invested that money like the police and firemans fund...

the shit I heard is that, the only reason we pay federal taxes was because of a deal we made to have our mail delivered for pennies on the dollar..

conspiracy theorist or saying.. once the post office goes fully private the people are not obligated to pay federal taxes.

and the real reason the govt is worried about an uprising, its why they try to keep the country focused on race, so the people wont wake up and see who is really fuckin them over,

with their hands in our pockets for every gotdam purchase we make or little financial win we gain...

I always said I was going to look into it.. just never did....

Im just tryin to figure out how the irs and federal reserve can resist audits...

take our money with zero accountability...

and the people dont even fuckin bat an eye...

thats whats crazy in these streets...

but yea I heard its been this way since the early aughts..

Mark my words: these industries will be headed to Africa, India and Vietnam soon. Where else can raise their growth margin. China's recklessness brought this on themselves.
