In JA the number 1 sport is athletics and believe it or nor Bolt is currently more of a household name than Marley.... You can't go anywhere in Jamaica without seeing a picture / billboard of Bolt. His name is all over the place and he is always mentioned in the press and media.
Marley died in 1981, his popularity is more worldwide than with younger Jamaicans... Younger Jamaicans grew up with Bolt and his achievements so currently he is the most popular icon on the island.

If that is true, then education wise Jamaica has a huge issue with African history just like the US. The words and impact of Bob Marley are generationally boundless, or at least it should be. If Bolt has surpassed the iconic status of Marley is Jamaica, I would be concerned.

Bolt has not surpassed the iconic status of Bob Marley in Jamaica. I never met a youngster that never know who Bob Marley was, most if not all households in Jamaica have some representation of Bob Marley, I can't say the same for Bolt. Bolt is talk about more now for obvious reasons.
