I wish we did have dual citizenship for my daughter. A few of her friends do and they have had tryouts for other national teams. The thing with making it on a national team is that those girls usually get recruited early and are more likley to get full ride scholarships. It makes the recruiting process a lot easier to have that on your resume.
Why? To try out for a National Team? My brother went thru same BS in ODP. I suggest putting together a highlight and keeping her stats from HS and Club.I know 2 women that got full rides off that that didn't play ODP at all.
ODP is a hustle. You don't make the U.S national team from ODP. When you make it to ECNL which is the top level for girls soccer right now, you don't get scouted for ODP anymore, you only can get scouted by the U.S national team. The scouts either come to the big tournaments or the coach recommends the player. You can still get a full ride without National team recognition but it makes it much easier. Plus the D1 schools love to fill their rosters with National team players and they usually get that money first. Womens soccer is not a real big money maker for schools so the budget for scholarships is limited. Now that they have made a bunch of changes to club soccer and with more to come, high school soccer is not going to be an option to get recruited. Next year they start Developmental Academy for girls and they will not be allowed to play high school because its a 10 month schedule and a minimum of 4 practices a week. If my daughter makes the DA team next year this will be her only year of playing high school.

Sounds like alot has changed since I played club over 20 years ago. Keep us updated. I have a daughter(toddler) that is going to ball out if she decides to play soccer and I want to know what to expect. What is ECNL? A friend of a friend's daughter just got a full ride to Ohio this year. I can ask her for her experiences if you'd like.When I played, HS wasn't shit compared to Club.Anybody that played for a decent club team was fairly dominant in HS in our league.
I would love to know about her experience. Appreciate that. ECNL stands for Elite Clubs National League. Right now it's the top league for girls but next year they are starting Developmental Academy to copy what the boys are doing and that will move ECNL to second. High school really isn't the best place to play if you are a good club player because the play is different. Girls that don't play club are usually more reckless and it is a risk of more injuries because those girls don't know what they are doing. I just want her to at least get a taste of playing in high school because that's memories she will have and it's fun playing for your high school team.
I don't know what you mean by "ho ball" but calling them cowards is usually the narrative when teams get upset by these soccer minions. The only thing she is right about is that the better team did not won but the Swedes played better. She started to talk nonsense when she complained more about what the Swedes did not do as oppose to what the US did not do.
Defensive football is not really a good tactics before or after 1 goal and with the talent US have the Swedes should be the one crying now. And kicking a penalty over the cross just add to how horrible the US played.
